Hey; my zine is coming together! Lots of interviews & reviews. However, specific shoutout: if anyone would like to write something original let me know! Too much of my own writing in this issue. Will happily look at submissions about your band, other music, art, books, clothes, films, travel. Shout!

We have to be honest with what's happen in the US & UK. The billionaires have grown tired of the charade of democracy - it now bores them.

Labour will work quick to smash protest but not to tax wealth - when you think of their origins there's never been a more success buyout by the rich in history

Its often easy to miss with all that's happening in America how bad the state of politics is in the UK.

We have a increasingly right wing authoritarian consensus against honest reporting & free protest in Labour, Tory & Reform

The canary is dead, the cole mine is about to blow.

Hello friends. It's the penultimate Bandcamp Friday of 2025 tomorrow & I thought I might use the occasion to tell you about a few records that I've really enjoyed these last few months!

First, a beautiful reissue helmed by my friend Simon at Unspun Heroes. I'm lucky enough to own a test pressing of this, by The Felt Tips, & it sounds perfect; glorious, fizzy, clever indie-pop with much wit & depth. Buy a copy, do!
unspunheroes.bandcamp.com/album/living-and-growing

Second, over on substack I've written a lengthy essay on, er, Pre-Raphaelite Art (& a great LP by Red Cavalry). Their album is ingenious; the story of the love affair between Dante Gabriel Rossetti & the embroiderer Jane Morris. Imagine the Smiths singing about art history and you'll be half way there.
My review is here:
intheaprilsun.substack.com/p/on-red-cavalrys-alas-so-long-lp
and you can buy here:
redcavalrymusic.bandcamp.com/album/alas-so-long

If you're in London, the brilliant Theatre Royal are playing at the Lexington on Oct 11th. I reviewed their ace LP for Louder Than War. It deserves your attention.
louderthanwar.com/theatre-royal-a-change-of-weather-album-review/

I also reviewed Sunny Intervals for Louder Than War too! A dazzler.
louderthanwar.com/sunny-intervals-swept-away-album-review/

Lastly, the CD of Slow Summits' Yore Song has sold out, sadly, but you can grab a digital copy in the link in this review on substack:
intheaprilsun.substack.com/p/album-the-slow-summits-yore-songs

A few more LPs I urge you to add to your wishlist:
goodbyewudaokou.bandcamp.com/album/anything-of-us
thisisslowcountry.bandcamp.com/album/you-still-believe-in-me
thecordsband.bandcamp.com/album/the-cords-2
aromatapes.bandcamp.com/album/aromatape-001

Everything above (and lots more) will feature in the next issue of our FANZINE, which I'm maybe half way through!

And Assistant are stirring! Soon!!

With lots of love,
Jonathan
