This structure, built between 1913 and 1914, was home to Polish immigrants Bernard and Sophia Rosołowski and their family for decades. A long-time home of their bridal shop, 5755 Chene was last used as an antique store. This week's video covers its history and potential future. youtu.be/04tcGMrISzw
The 2-megapixel camera did what it could. From a tour I went on at the Redford Theatre in Detroit yesterday with the Historic Designation Advisory Board. Such a cool place!

He’s already invested over $150,000 in the property (including environmental remediation). With most of the hard work done, Devin is entering the final chapter of making this a reality and has started accepting PrePayment from those interested in using the garage when it’s up and running.
My friend Devin has been working to repurpose an old service station/shop on Mack Ave. as a community garage for antique car enthusiasts and DIY mechanics to work on projects and daily drivers. The goal is to enable people to work on their cars, regardless of the automobile's era of manufacture.
Have you gotten one in Nola? Best I've had. It was disgustingly good
I'm near a school...probably why, ha
Ice cream trucks cruising the neighborhood on March 9th feels so wrong
Today is 2-Megapixel Monday. All these photos were shot during my travels around #Detroit over the last week with my 2-megapixel Kodak EasyShare camera. No edits, no cropping—just 1632 by 1232 pixel images from a camera that came out in 2003. I hope to do this every Monday. Have a great week!
12801 East Jefferson Avenue, #Detroit
Continental Motors, Kaiser-Frazer, and later Continental Aluminum. This was a wild graff spot for years. I've got some old photos of the larger plant somewhere. Demolished 2022/23.

Neighborhood walk with the 2 megapixel camera this afternoon. Love this weather, especially on this tiny sensor. It does #Detroit justice!
Unfortunately, this church, St. Hyacinth, is likely closing : (
I'd love to see the former school turned into housing (or a hostel???).
Didn't know you were a DIMCO fan 😉 Thanks for the share! Much appreciated.
The Detroit Ice Machine Company, or DIMCO, for short, was a titan of the refrigeration industry in Detroit for decades. Today, their home is owned by a demolition company that's been trying to sell it for close to $1,000,000. Check it out: youtu.be/lOk9QhPhajQ
How we gonna chant for rouge and gold when neither color is present on the kit
Adventures in 2 megapixels continue. I just wanted to see what it looked like...and it's kind of fun!
I use their S-Biners like mad. So good!
I reviewed the regular one for work and thought it was only fine...but a fish...oh my, I'm in
Ha, I totally get that. I think that the growth and connection that removing 75/375 would be greater than that of the Lodge. not to say one is more worthy than the other. IMO, get rid of both of them, ha. Get rid of them and put rail over top with linear parks and housing!
Lots of good responses to this on IG this morning. The only reason I didn't include the Lodge, too, is that having ONE depressed highway for people to get to and from downtown could relieve surface street traffic for Detroiters after events. As you improve transit, it could be removed as well.
I think they are planning to get rid of 375, but they are doing a feasibility study on capping 75 near downtown. Get rid of 375, that would be great. But capping anything is just admitting you made a mistake without fixing the problem, IMO. Better than nothing, I guess!
While we're at it, let's put Jefferson between the Lodge and 375 underground, and extend the Riverfront with lots of GREEN space (love Hart Plaza, but it isn't green)
Hear me out...what if we just completely got rid of all the highways highlighted in pink and created linear parks with dense, affordable housing surrounding the heart of downtown Detroit and some of it's most popular neighborhoods (Midtown, Eastern Market, Corktown, etc.)
I’ve got them right where I want them
Really liked this one. I was sorry to see it go, too!
5903 Dubois Street, #Detroit Sinclair Service Station. This one was always a favorite of mine. Demolished 2024/25(?)
I would love you to be right, though, ha
Rebuilding the tram line?! Where?!
Just how I remember it
