Liquidambar leaf palette just nowπŸ‘‡πŸΌ. Pause for a moment if you’re feeling anxious-your brain’s likely to release dopamine due to a positive response to colour gradation, certain bright colours & looking at images our brains find appealing. A pause here will make your day slightly easier to tackle 🍁

Today is the 110th anniversary of the execution of British nurse Edith Cavell by a German firing squad during WWI. She was born in the village of Swardeston, Norfolk in December 1865, the daughter of the parish priest, and her name appears on the village war memorial.

I don’t know about you, but I’m still sort of processing that the US president stood up in the UN and declared that London is about to be under Sharia law, and the response has been β€œactually, that won’t happen” rather than β€œJesus, that is insane.”

To β€˜ultra-crepidate’ (19th century) is to lecture others on subjects you know very little about.

This is my new favourite analogy for mainstream parties' problem with the radical right! If you're a mainstream party, you can talk about other things! If you're the government, you can talk about *and do* other things *and* you get to set the agenda, at least to some extent, much of the time!

I’m not sure it reflects all that well on Mason that the most aggressive interview he’s managed with a politician in quite some time is in defence of his own journalism.

It’s also a fairly extraordinary attack to make in response to a fairly mild critique. Not sure his judgment on the money here.

The COVID enquiry and last night’s ITV documentary shone light on a dark time - when billions of pounds of public money were shovelled into the pockets of private investors rather than public institutions - wasting existing expertise, wasting money, wasting lives in the process.

If you believed the producers of King and Conqueror, you'd think the original source material for the Norman Conquest was virtually nonexistent. In fact it's one of the best-documented events in medieval European history. You can even spin a 400+ page book out of it. www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/k...

Our grandparents knew titanic warfare, genocide, economic dislocation, smashed cities & hideous disease. They clung to the ideals of liberal democracy as if their lives depended on it

These people have known only peace, prosperity, safety and it has blown their minds. They hunger for dislocation.

The Greens now have nearly 200 more councillors than Reform.

This is not something you'd be likely to guess from all the copiously salivating media coverage of Farage & his crew of billionaire-backed far-right chancers.

I really liked Thorrup. When it worked it was glorious, but it's just not been working enough. I have no idea if this is a good decision or not - depends on what comes next. But it really leaves a bad taste to have the sense that players have forced this by downing tools recently.

Every day on the internet makes it abundantly clear that some people have never had a single person turn around and say to them, β€˜Cite your sources’ because, and I say this with every ounce of love I can muster as a teacher: while you are entitled to your opinion, that does not make it fact.
