Barring any retimes, I finished the event tied for 2nd place! My goal going into this was “Sub 3 and/or not last” so needless to say I achieved that

This game is brutal and I almost certainly was on the luckier side, but it still feels good to perform that well in a game I haven’t played in years

Not the best start, risky Mudkip finish, bad Latios and then god Groudon. Good enough for a (tied) 2nd place right now, and legit 30s off my real non-event PB. Wild run

Day 2 is LIVE! Currently sitting smack dab in the middle of the pack at 5th place, but it's by no means a safe position to be in. Need to step up my game today

Actually just got in the car headed home from the airport now. All in all could have been worse, but I just want one event that plays nice

Imagine this. You have a 2.5 hour layover. 2 hour delay Flight 1

You get in the air knowing you’ll land 20 minutes before boarding

You then proceed to be *in the air* when boarding starts, but even still, you make it to the gate

You click the seatbelt and feel your phone buzz

Flight 2 delayed 1h

Now there’s a ground stop at my connection (DCA) so we’re going back to the gate

I know it’s haha funny that it keeps happening to me but I’m getting REALLY sick of this travel luck

No dude. I’m currently delayed like 45 min and de-icing as a type. Hopefully that’s the worst of it

Finally, looking forward, I definitely have a few speedruns in mind to submit for the next event. Every year I feel like I start falling further and further from speedrunning and the events just pull me right back in. It’s just the magic of GDQ

Of course the off stream moments were memorable as well. I love that we have a core tight nit group that comes to these events, and it’s great catching up with everyone, but I also know I do a horrible job of keeping up with people outside of the events. I’m going to try and change that

The other two Pokémon runs were great as well. HGSS was the right amount of cursed trainwreck coupled with some absolutely clutch moments, and Emerald was a delight as well. I’d love to see that format evolve and get applied to some other games (Pokemon or not) because it just PRINTED money for PCF

E33 may have been what I think was my best couch performance ever. I’m not sure what it was, but we just hit a groove early and kept it up the whole time. I wanna look back on it for sure to see what I can take from it moving forward, because being able to apply that to Pokémon would be awesome

The Z-A run was super cool, and I was glad to be a part of it. The community really rallied behind submitting that for second submission block, and it was exciting to see zypotic get his first GDQ run under his belt. It’s a shame we’ve all kinda given up on Z-A as a speed game, because that was fun

Like the last few events, I worked a lot behind the scenes on the Interstitial team. It was my fourth event doing it, and it just gets easier and more fun the longer I do it. I’m truly grateful to have been given this opportunity, and I want to keep doing it as long as they’ll have me

I went into the event this year feeling a bit iffy about how it would go for me, but I’m happy to say it was an absolute blast!
