You know what is interesting? Portland's middle housing reform that produced nearly 1500 units in only 3 years. Avg sales price 250k less (!) than SFH
"Vanderbilt professors acknowledged Wednesday that they had not looked into Montgomery Countyβs specific housing market or the recently passed legislative package." This underscores @cmkisicki.bsky.social point. MoCo's Council has done other things, but zoning reform opponents will cherry pick.

We don't have nearly enough permanent or temporary housing or shelter beds for the currently unhoused population.
Cutting housing aid to 100,000 people would be absolutely devastating to the those people, their communities, and the whole Bay Area.
Want to get back at that prof who gave you an A- on an exam? Or maybe you don't think people of color or women should be professors?
Make up a story about antisemitism, plop it into an anonymous student evaluation, and watch as your prof's life is upturned faster than you can spell "fascism."
An independent civil service is so important for so many reasons. One overlooked one is that it offers economic opportunities to people who would not otherwise get them from the private sector.

Although Alito frames the remedy here as "notice and opt-out," the reality is that school districts cannot manage such a sweeping opt-out system. They are far more likely to simply pull books with LGBTQ characters off classroom shelves altogether rather than face a ruinous, high-profile lawsuit.
