Our children continued on their planting journey, using their working memory to recall what the seeds needed. Throughout the experience we have developed our knowledge of comparing sizes “they seeds are bigger”HM, counting “6 seeds left” and fine motor skills as we investigate the types we plant.
Last week we started planting our seeds, with P1 coming in to support develop our knowledge of what seeds need to grow and how we plant them. Working together and sharing our knowledge “it needs water” ARB, “needs sun” MW.
World book day and some children enjoyed taking part in some helicopter stories, they used their imagination to make up a story of their own, asked their peers to help act it out then created a picture of their own story. S my story is funny, J mine is a bit sad, K I love my story, J Ironman’s red.
We had a great World Book Day at nursery today. Our children enjoyed some fantastic stories read by our P7 pupils and also had great fun choosing a new book to take home in our book swap. We ended the day with The Three Billy Goats Gruff Puppet Show. #worldbookday

The art area has continued to be busy, lots of colourful paintings have been created. The use of glue, glitter, lots of collage materials has also been very popular.

We have continued to repeat this opportunity over the last 2 weeks, to help develop knife skills, sense of responsibility & hand eye coordination. Some children have enjoyed the sense of responsibility&returned to the opportunity many times. BS "can I make snack?I want to make snack for my friends."
The children continue to prepare snack for their peers, they have taken a particular interest in using the knives to chop the fruit and veg.

At quieter times outside we removed some of the obstacle course and left out the goals to allow some of our children who are passionate about football an opportunity to play just football. #football (S.T.)
We decided to make an obstacle course to combine our children’s interest in football, movement and climbing. Our children helped to design the obstacle course and gather the materials to make the course. Lots of children came to try out our new course. #obstaclecourse
We have been playing Duck Duck Goose. Our children have been learning how to run and catch their friend, to take turns and wait to be chosen during the game.
This week our children’s interest in football continues. We have been visiting the muga pitch to play. We have been developing our gross motor skills, learning how to play as a team and learning how to manage our emotions during games. #football
We began to tidy up our gardening area by pulling out all the weeds in the planters and began sweeping up the leaves to prepare for our family planting experience which is taking place soon 🌱🌼 We worked together as a team and have made a great start! We definitely have some green fingered learners!
Lots of children were playing football in the small area between the gates. We decided to go over to the grassy area to allow to give us more room to play. We were learning how to play as a team and some of the rules in football. #football
Last week during our cold weather the children were using their own ideas to keep warm. ‘I am building an Obstacle Course. I am the strongest in the world’ said S.McA as she moved some car wheels over beside the climbing equipment. Some friends came to help. #keepingwarm
The children are still enjoying the magnetic building blocks, using creativity and teamwork to construct their chosen vehicles and other structures. It is lovely to see the time and care taken to achieve these amazing constructions, and their pride in displaying the finished result.
They explored the water using different pipes and containers, experimenting with how to move the water from one place to another. Lots of problem-solving as they figured out how to position the pipes, control the flow and prevent spills.So much creativity, teamwork and scientific thinking.
We introduced small, medium and large measuring jugs for the children to explore, compare and discuss. Lots of rich language around full, empty, heavy, light, more and less as they investigated weight and the amount of water each jug could hold.
The children took turns with the hammers, supported one another and waited patiently for their go. Lots of encouragement, sharing and cooperative problem-solving as we worked together to fix the tray 💧✨

The children carefully used hammers and nails to fasten it in place, developing fantastic fine motor skills and hand–eye coordination We talked tool safety. RM reminded us, “We need goggles when we use the tools.”EM“The nails are hard to get out, you need to pull with the other part of the hammer.”
The children noticed our outdoor water tray had a rip in it .We talk about what might have happened and how we could fix it. The children have been making good use of the quiet space to interact with resources relating to emotions. After checking in, we tried to work on our angry, happy and even silly faces. We discussed what happens to a face when it’s sad or angry and ways to feel happier. #emotions
More games were introduced to deepen the children's knowledge of numbers & provide extra challenge.We hunted for numbers around the garden & tried some number ordering with a number washing line. RM "I know number 1 comes first and then number 2” WB " found a number 2” BS “11 it has two ones.'”
Lots of baking in the mud kitchen today, pancakes and cupcakes were very popular, L I eat strawberries, chocolate and blueberries on my pancakes. N I like hot pancakes with chocolate spread. J nothing I want nothing on my pancake.
Lots of fine motor skills were used when pouring into the utensils.
We have been busy cooking up a storm in the kitchen making making larder options for lunch. We have been discussing how to keep safe whilst using knives and cooking utensils, making healthy choices and our food likes and dislikes.
