Just because someone isn’t deemed a functional or contributing member to society, doesn’t make them any less valuable as a human being. Someone’s worth isn’t measured by their ability to pay taxes.

Twitter post from @rifflexielian: "Terfs need to shut up about womanhood, my mom was raised to believe all women were less valuable than men and cried when she learned about trans women because the idea that someone would fight that hard to be a woman was radical for her and meant it was something worth being

There's a transmasculine version of this. If someone assigned female can become a man, it means there's nothing so special or powerful about men.

Each of us has the biological truth of equality between the sexes within us, as demonstrated by the ability of some to pass from one to the other.

As governor of Illinois, I’ve made it my mission to make our state the best to call home including for our LGBTQ+ community.

No matter who you are or who you love, everyone deserves dignity and equality.

Hate has no home here.

37 live giant beetles found inside Japanese snack packets at LAX At least 37 giant live beetles measuring 4 to 5 inches have been found concealed inside of multiple packages of Japanese snacks, potato chips and chocolate at LAX.

Looks so good! Did you see the beetles someone tried to smuggle inside Japanese snacks? abcnews.go.com/amp/US/37-li...

We're suing President Trump to protect gender-affirming care access for trans people nationwide.

President Trump, see you in court.

I’m the mom of a trans kid. When I tell you our community is terrified it isn’t an exaggeration. They are following the N**i playbook EXACTLY. Why aren’t you stopping this before he comes for us? It took H***er 54 days to consolidate power. The time to act is NOW

One of the first things Hitler did was destroy and burn trans research at the Institute of Sexology.

Trump has spent the past couple weeks systematically attempting to erase any trans related information that he has power over.

Just for context, you know.

a long-haired, blond, snaggletoothed dachshund sits (or stands? it’s hard to say with doxies) on a front porch. she’s looking up, her long ears draping down the sides of her neck, and her mouth is a little diagonal slash, a perfect smirk that curls up on the right side of her face. her big black eyes are innocent, obviously.

This is Bella. She's a world-class jewel thief. Has just pulled off the most incredible heist, and she's smirking because no one suspects a thing. 13/10 #SeniorPupSaturday

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent.

Opportunities are everywhere.

Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉

Do you know why a president would do all the most evil and heinous shit via Executive Order? Because his party can't easily make it law. And if they can't make it law, they can't make it last.

Don't let anyone make you feel like this is The End. Do not let them demoralize you. Live to see them die.

As I read it, it overrides a judicial discretion in custody disputes when a parent opposes transition and the affirming parent seeks refuge with the child in a sanctuary state.

The legal actions are pouring in one after another.
Deep breath people.
Breathe.
There's good people out there suing the Bastad as fast as they can.

The various actions have to be analyzed to determine standing It takes a few days so hang on.
Buckle up.
The brakes are going to hit hard.

How Aristotle Predicted the Rise of Oligarchy And a Blueprint for Its Self-Imposed Demise Legendary Lore explained how Aristotle predicted that democratic systems would slowly lead to the wealthy in the highest levels of government.

Aristotle gives a measure of hope:
“remember oligarchies often appear strongest just before they begin to crack. Their very efforts to maintain absolute control frequently generate the conditions for their own transformation.”

As a Mississippi transplant to the Chicago area, stories of de facto segregation hit me hard. The first step to doing better is to listen to each other: blockclubchicago.org/2025/01/22/s...

Flowers in a small field with sage and a few white bark pine. There's a long long meadow stretching off into the distance between the trees.

Somebody somewhere
Needs flowers today

One of my very early photos in the park. Pretty sure this was using the first digital pocket camera I owned, Coolpix, might have been 2004 or so.
