Happy black and tan husky mix smiling and ears popping while she prepares to catch a bite of poptart crust in the snow. Same dog, looking over her shoulder - and covered with snow. It’s been coming down pretty steadily since I took this pic; we’re up to maybe a couple inches. Same happy dog covered in snow. Another pic of the dog with snow poof on her nose. She is smiling in the snow at the end of a red leash.

this is usually the part where I post a Morning Monty but you guys we have SNOW and Lucy is HERE FOR IT

The NIH has lost its scientific integrity. So we left “We can no longer lend our credibility to an organization that has lost its integrity,” write four scientists and administrators who recently resigned from the NIH.

Read why NIH colleagues resigned.

Most of the cats lived in the upper courtyard, where John had ensured that they were fed big bowls of meat. A select few lived in the lower courtyard and had access to the bureau chief’s quarters. Second and third photos show Fatty as a kitten in 2007 and then in Boston (where lived until 2019).

John Burns was a great war correspondent. He was also a champion of the NYT Baghdad Bureau’s feral cat population, as he described in this lovely 2007 piece. I took two of the kittens born there in 2007 home to my parents in 2009—one is still alive today, age 19.

Remember when I said that, even wearing heavy welders’ gloves, grabbing a possum by the base of its tail was, in sensory terms, kind of a lot? Well, I wasn’t exaggerating.

“Maybe you could actually unilaterally change the world— without having to constantly convince people...who are never going to agree with you—through technological means. And this is where I think technology is this incredible alternative to politics.”

I am very sad, would anyone else like a good dogs/cats/animals thread? Reply with pics if you would like to
