(Me: former IC no longer interested in the game.)
Had the most amazing dream.
I saw the concept of indiscriminate context expansion having an inverse relationship with purpose and meaning.

At this point investors have fully disqualified the technical professions from having any voice in the discussion, so... buckle up. :)
(Speaking as a software engineer who's been watching this madness unfold first-hand.)
At this point I can actually make more reliable, consistent, and even BETTER money per hour as a personal trainer than as a software engineer.
This isn't strictly b/c of AI -- globalization has been pushing things that way for years -- but AI certainly helped.
Also, some of the better commenters I've seen.
"Software engineers say it will replace writers.
Writers say it will replace software engineers.
Managers say it will replace employees.
It’s not AI doing the replacing; it’s a reflection of how little we value each other’s professions."

Coming out of my social break JUST to recommend you give @edzitron.com a listen on his "Business Idiots" audio essay trilogy.
You have to understand the hyper-industrialist, anti-human attitudes of the executive classes creating this AI bubble.
A rant flowing straight up from the muses themselves.
You really outdid yourself with the Business Idiots trilogy. I can hear the sense of purpose and flow in your voice. 🏆
Yep, scrolled all the way down your feed to find this message to let you know.
People need to understand the lack of care and interest in humanity these ppl have.

The United States wants the unilateral authority to decide who should be able to use certain technologies.
In a new piece, I talk about everything from Iran to Andor to discuss how US tech supremacy gives it power over others that it’s working hard to maintain — to all of our detriment.
DeepSpeak open sourcing illustrates why my position on AI and regulations thereof has been this entire time essentially, "save your breath."

Everything you do is suppressed and everything right-wingers do is promoted. You can't use organic engagement to beat hostile mods with herbicide. (Your "view" numbers are fake too, BTW.)

Well I super appreciate the attention to detail. <3 <3
Isn't it wonderful when you feel like a piece of art was somehow created with you in mind, you with your specialized set of skills and experiences.
(I also love Call of Cthulhu in general.)
Are you telling me there's edible pizza in this town...?
As a Philadelphia-raised LAN party aficionado I can't stop hunting down good pizza, but after 20 years here i just feel like i have to accept gaslighting as to what "good" is to enjoy any of it.

Click through and read this short sequence and maybe you'll get the sense of glee I felt knowing that the designers of this narrative really cared about the details.

(2) note that the culture of Bluesky has promoted the creation of curated lists of things in a way that improves on the culture of Twitter, which HAD lists but not quite this way

I miss Mission to Xyxx. What's next??
(yes, I know i can listen to it again, that's not the point.)
I adored the Futurama-takes-over-Star Wars vibe and I'm impressed with the character development and commitment to continuity (often at their own hilariously belabored expense).
Any leads, anyone?

Billionaires are boring, immensely uncreative weirdos, and if all their stupid hoarded wealth isn’t going to do any societal good then it should at least be wasted by fun, creative weirdos.

19.11.2024 23:25 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I don’t care if you don’t “get” art!
Go to an art museum with a friend, you won’t regret it.
You can spend the whole time criticizing it for laughs or just using the imagery for seeds for conversation.
Maybe some of it will fascinate you. You don’t have to “get it” though. You can just “use” it.
An old VHS tape called “A TTouch of M.A.G.I.C. for Cats & Kittens.” Small print below the title explains that “M.A.G.I.C.” is an acronym for “More Awareness Gains Interspecies Communication.” It appears to be a video guide to some kind of massage technique for cats. The cover photo is a white woman in 90s-Mom stylings clutching a cat to her chest, staring at the camera with the most “I make videos about how to rub your cats” kooky cat lady look ever. However, written angrily over the cover of the tape in black Sharpie is “Bourne Supremacy,” with the first failed attempt at rage-spelling “Supremacy” crossed out. The title of the tape is also scribbled out, with an intensity in the strokes that suggests some husband trope was so fucking sick of this video and needed somewhere to record their Jason goddamn Bourne movie. One can begin to feel the story of family drama behind this tape.
This artifact I found at the thrift store presents a riveting tale of a major marital Incident
