It breathes life and lore into it, especially when you where a kid. I remember some from Mortal Combat becoming almost urban legends.

A screenshot from the monochrome 1989 Macintosh game "Citadel: Adventure of the Crystal Keep". The game appears to be an old-school first-person dungeon crawler, with a game window showing a dark cave environment with tiled floors and stone walls. Another window shows little icons of the current party of adventurers, and there is a third window with navigation buttons. The highlight is the menu running along the top of the screen. Normally, the omnipresent apple menu is just represented by a lone apple symbol, but in this game, someone has added a branch for the apple to hang from. It is really cute.

Shoutout to the person who added a tiny little branch to the menu for the apple to hang from in Citadel: Adventure of the Crystal Keep (1989)
