I like the CHRONICLES printing quality, so until they pass what I have in those, I think I'm good. Unless the DC Finest volumes have stories the CHRONICLES don't.

I like the DC Finest line, and I'm going to be delighted to have the original Doom Patrol all in two handy volumes like that, even though I've got them in the Archives as well.

The question was about the Golden Age DC Finest SUPERMAN versus the SUPERMAN CHRONICLES volumes.

I can at least firmly say that I didn't have any such thing in 1986-1987, when this was happening.

But George was busy, anyway.

If they did an OMAC collection, it'd pretty well have to include the Starlin revamp. A typical DC Finest volume, starting with OMAC 1, would get up to 2006 or so before it was full.

I had already brought in James Fry, who got his first DC work out of it -- Andy gave him an ATARI FORCE Special story to draw. But not WILD CARD.

So will there be Jonah? Will there be reprints? I guess we'll find out. But I saw a lot of people saying Sgt. Rock would be in the WAR volumes (even though the first one is all pre-Rock). So I guess we'll see.

On one of the other books, their content listing left out a few B&Bs, so I emailed a DC Collected Editions editor to ask about them, and he said they'd have to rejuggle the contents -- that they were a "work in progress." So I think the early descriptions are someone's best stab at things, or...

I wouldn't trust the Edelweiss description overmuch, since a lot of this information is guesswork, sometimes even on DC's part. The SCIENCE FICTION book description says it has Adam Strange in it. The DEMON description says Jim Starlin's one of the writers and Juan Ortiz is one of the artists.

...JONAH HEX as separate volumes as well.

This leaves the question of what else will be in the Western book, since ALL-STAR 1-11 isn't enough, complete or curated.

I wouldn't bet that it'll include all of ALL-STAR WESTERN 1-11, despite that description. Some of that run is reprints, so I'd assume they'll skip those. And given that they've announced a SGT. ROCK volume, which would seem to indicate he _won't_ be in the WAR volumes, I'm thinking they'll do...

It'd be very fun to build a new Legion series from the ground up. I kind of assume that Mark Waid will get to it first, though.

Oh, there'd have been plenty of external conflicts and antagonists in WILD CARD. And SECRET IDENTITY was wayyyy better written.

But maybe a few echoes, sure. Though the Clark of SECRET IDENTITY was a basically good person even when we first met him.

That jibes with the very few memories I have of what I read. I just haven't read enough to have any real opinion about it.

I didn't see that much of it. I was making very little money when it launched, the art didn't click with me somehow (though I liked Broderick's work elsewhere) and there was a lengthy spate of awful lettering after a bit. So I let it go.
