I never said they shouldn’t. It’s also the law.

There’s a blaring problem with the Eglinton Crosstown LRT. This is what’s bothering commuters The city celebrated the new light rapid transit line’s opening early last month. An unexpected issue is irritating Line 5 riders.

Fixing the distorted audio only solves 1/2 the problem; the constant barrage of announcements remain. Safety messages should be limited to interchanges, and superfluous language needs to be cut. Keeping announcements short is essential, especially since everything must be repeated 'en français.'

Brad loves to grandstand and knows how to bait a media ecosystem that will take it. That said, not all his ideas lack merit—platform screen doors, for example. If pushing them forces other candidates (hello, Chow) to commit at key stations, that’s a win. toronto.citynews.ca/2026/03/05/b... #TOpoli

Mississauga Offers Vision for Living Arts Centre Precinct Redevelopment | UrbanToronto Mississauga staff have outlined a vision to redevelop the Living Arts Centre lands into a mixed-use civic precinct featuring a hotel, convention centre, music venue, office space, and rental housing. The proposal also includes new underground parking and a dedicated station on the Hazel McCallion Hurontario LRT.

It’s striking how suburban the LAC feels on its site—barely addressing the street on most sides and pretending to sit in a park on others. And it’s not as if it was built in the 1960s, either. urbantoronto.ca/news/2026/03...

Toronto now has 5 rapid transit lines, but is that enough to support its growing population? - NOW Toronto As of today, Toronto has five rapid transit lines and 11 streetcar routes. Now Toronto asked residents and an expert: Is that enough?

The question is a bit off: GO Expansion will bring subway-like service to much of the region and may be more impactful than adding another subway line. Still, it’s encouraging to see progress on major projects, even if completing those would only begin to close a generational gap.

Robotaxis are a Threat to Transit. Dealing with threats requires acknowledging them.

There are downsides, but many regional rail stations—and even some subway stops—are still surrounded by seas of parking and few nearby amenities or housing. Better “last kilometre” options could help, and might even make it easier for some suburban residents to go car-free.

Any reason why Bell Canada removed Sky News? BBC News is great for international coverage, but it rarely carries U.K. domestic news. Sky filled that gap. Considering Charles III is Canada’s head of state, it’s always surprising how hard it is to get U.K. news here. forum.bell.ca/t5/tv-stream...

Toronto’s mayor wants to finally fix this foul-smelling city eyesore. It’s unclear how much it will cost Mayor Olivia Chow is proposing the city take back control of its sidewalk trash receptacles after two decades of privatization.

Fully in favour of bringing trash receptacles in-house. That said, it may make sense to wait until the contract for the rest of the street furniture is finalized. Otherwise, we risk ending up with bins that don’t align with the overall design vocabulary of the other fixtures across the streetscape.

Siblings Accuse Michael Jackson of Sex Trafficking and Abuse in New Lawsuit Four adult siblings from the Cascio family say the pop star abused them across more than a decade, beginning when they were children

That headline makes it seem like his own siblings are the ones bringing the accusations. Still, this is another disturbing case in a long pattern surrounding MJ. I suspect and hope he’d be in serious legal trouble or even prison today if he were still alive. pitchfork.com/news/sibling...

Reactions mixed as B.C. to end time changes, adopt year-round daylight time | CBC News Reactions range from applause to concern as March 8 will be the last time most British Columbians have to change their clocks, B.C. Premier David Eby announced Monday.

Permanent standard time was likely the better choice. Still, it’s encouraging to see a province put an end to this unhealthy biannual ritual. It also demonstrates that we don’t have to wait for the U.S. to lead the way — even if ON and QC have been holding back for it. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

I might have preferred East Harbour over Exhibition Place as the catalyst for the new district. But this makes Exhibition Station’s grand plans — and the decision not to value engineer them — much easier to understand.

Province Awards Contract for New Science Centre at Ontario Place | UrbanToronto The Province has awarded a $1.04 billion contract to deliver a new 400,000 ft² Ontario Science Centre designed by Snohetta and Hariri Pontarini Architects at Ontario Place, with opening targeted for 2029. The facility will include the historic pods and a revitalized Cinesphere as part of the waterfront redevelopment.

If Toronto didn’t already have a science museum, Ontario Place would be a compelling place to start. But the city does have one on an a spectacular Don Valley site — that will soon be served by two subway lines. Which makes this new proposal a good place to stop. urbantoronto.ca/news/2026/02...

I get that, but there’s a longer-term angle: if the fan experience is gradually eroded, the audience will shrink over time, which could eventually hit revenue—though that’s hard to see when rights deals keep climbing.
