Severe weather is deadly for vulnerable older adults long after the storm ends, study finds
Older adults who were exposed to heavy rainfall after Hurricane Harvey in 2017 faced a 3% increase in the risk of death within the following year, a new U-M study found.
A massive storm over the next few days could impact millions of older adults and people with chronic conditions - not just immediately but long after it passes.
That lasting impact is suggested by new research led by our member Sue Anne Bell, Ph.D.: ihpi.umich.edu/news-events/...

With telehealth coverage on the brink, study shows it hasnβt driven up total visits
Data from 60 million Medicare participants shows even in medical specialties that use virtual care most, total number of visits was stable or declined through mid-2024
