I personally have no issues with paper straws. They work fine and don't get too soggy before you finish the drink, even hours later, in my experience.

When Trump won again I was bracing myself for more cringelib Resistance.

Wasn't prepared for it to be basically entirely replaced by lib acquiescence

Me shoving the curtains into the gaps around the blinds at my parents house, doing my best, failing to block all the light.

Bedroom blinds should be able to block 100% of outside light.

If it's not impossible to tell the difference between noon on a sunny day and midnight when the lights are off, they let in too much.

I like how he says both "this isn't their home" and "they should appreciate the home they have".

If it's not their home they don't 'have' anything to appreciate. You can't demand appreciation for something you are explicitly claiming not to provide.

Proceed with caution. Treat this as a business. You are there not to house out of the goodness of your heart. You are to make a profit or minimize losses.

Assume the worst in people and everyone is off and suspicious. Iโ€™m sure you know what itโ€™s like to be around someone who is creepy, stalker like or just completely nuts. Weโ€™ve all seen that type of

The less variables the better. No pets no smoking no rent subsidies, no govt agencies that guarantee rent, no mental health agencies helping to house their clients.

Have a tight addendum on doโ€™s and donโ€™ts that can be done in the place like no pets, no smoking no home business that requires customers to come and go, no subletting, no this and no that. The more restrictions you have the more you will weed out the riff raff.

Be prepared that the unit will be treated more roughly by a renter vs a homeowner. Ie they donโ€™t use the bathroom fan when showering. You Need to dummy proof everything. I have a humidity sensor in the bathroom that turns the fan on and off automatically when there is humidity in there. Tenant cannot turn it off when there is humidity in there. I control it.

Speaking of control you need to control the tenant. You need them to know this isnโ€™t their place. They are renting it. It isnโ€™t their home. It is a place to stay. If they donโ€™t like it they can leave. Keep away from entitled folks and Karens. Get a tenant that appreciates the home and they will behave themselves and respect the place.

Landlord giving advice to a new landlord.

"Speaking of control, you need to control the tenant. You need them to know this isn't their place... It isn't their home."

I prefer more patronizing rherotic. Billionaires are all lost, confused freaks who need to be saved from themselves. Like children running with scissors--highly dangerous, they need to be stopped, but also worthy of pity. Strip them of their immense privilege for their own good, and the good of all

Whenever I see the name Al Gore now, I briefly think someone is talking about AI-generated gore.
