I also saw a nightjar with her once and I bring him up a lot too but not as much as the dipper. Especially bc she was at first like "no. You saw a frog" and I insisted it was a small bird swimming under water, then we both saw him.
and for a while she was like "omg get over the birrrd" but she's long since accepted her fate. Today I thought of the dipper and texted her, and I realized I've been bringing that bird up for almost 8 years cause Finch was a teenager then 😂.
I saw an American Dipper once and it blew my mind seeing a song bird shaped guy go for a polar plunge. I bring it up regularly to the girl I was hiking with,
