“most pandered to, fragile man alive.” That’s quite an accomplishment these days.

Trudeau: "I want to speak first directly to the American people. We don't want this. We want to work with you as a friend and ally. We don't want to see you hurt either. But your government has chosen to do this to you. As of this morning, markets are down and inflation is set to rise dramatically."

Smug cat loaf-sitting on a laptop. Owner watches as patiently as he can manage.

No that’s what it looked like. Which is why every Christmas after harassing fire was directed at no man’s land to prevent madness caused by the abomination.

I’ve played the first two: excellent choices.

It’s like the people producing it are running around with a huge sign saying “I am totally ignorant of what reality looks like”

Or perhaps it’s like the misspelling and bad grammar in Nigerian Prince email: if you are ignorant enough to bite, I can reel you in.

No person incapable of killing children for the good of the state has any business being a fifteenth century monarch. I find the entire desire for him not to have done it to be totally mysterious.

That does look good — rather more like a soddy than thatching but that’s OK. Does it stand up well to use and storage?

Few folks are more committed to combating pseudo archaeology than Flint. He does it so well, and with a commitment I certainly couldn’t muster - I’m not that patient these days.

On a quick they seem to be pricing in the normal range for a vanity press. The AI proofing might save them costs and the AI audiobook might be a value add. But the target market is still people with dreams and a book that publishers who have to make money won’t touch.

And that’s evil, AI or no.

So fundamentally an automated vanity press? An enterprise of marginal ethics at the best of times.

Easy to follow, but also easy to block. Like the time I moved into a cheap flat full of roaches, after a few weeks of careful fumigation they were all gone.

One of my friends has 10 popular hiking books currently in print, and still needs a day job.

He’s also closing in on 70 and is still spending his weekends hiking for miles for his next book, so my sympathy has bounds.

Well, I was a software developer and spent my life working way to many 70 hour weeks creating shareholder value for billionaires.

No doubt you hurt all over at the end of it, but try to take consolation in adding to the sum of human knowledge and our grasp on the past.

Thank you for that.
