Standing in solidarity with colleagues at the CDC who were fired as part of yet another RIF wave.
We are all less safe without their expertise and dedication.

In the State of Georgia, it is now easier to buy a gun than it is to get a COVID booster vaccine.
Pretty crazy stuff.

This is an insane person.

This Is How I Keep Showing Up A infectious diseases physician’s reflections on trust, defiance, and public health in a time of outrage

Even when we’re cast as villains, those of us working in infectious diseases still have a vital role to play. In this reflection, I share how I’m continuing to show up for patients, for public health, and for the next generation even when it’s hard.

The DOJ lawyer who made the mistake of answering the court's questions about Abrego-Garcia candidly (eg yes he was mistakenly deported, a fact the Administration already has acknowledged), which got him put on administrative leave, has now been fired, ending his 15-year DOJ career..

Beside measles outbreaks, we are likely to see resurgence of:
- HIV
- Tuberculosis
- STIs (Syphilis, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea)
- A worse flu season
- other vaccine preventable diseases.
Because that's what happens when you gut public health, defund research and promote vaccine misinformation.

A photo from Indivisible Santa Barbara on Instagram. Thousands of people stand together on the beach in a way that spells “HANDS OFF!”

We expected hundreds of thousands of people yesterday.

Instead, millions of Americans flooded the streets to demand an end to Trump’s authoritarian power grab.

Trump and Musk have spent their first 75 days in office trying to overwhelm us and make us feel powerless, but we’re not going anywhere.

The global fund will roll out twice yearly Lenacapavir for prevention of HIV with or without #PEPFAR. Now the US contributes 30% of the global fund donations which is likely to disappear. Still important the fund is not backing away from this commitment 👏🏼.

Uganda discharges the last Ebola patients. No new deaths from the contagious virus reported Uganda health authorities say they discharged the last eight patients who recovered from Ebola

This is remarkable. The last of 8 patients who tested positive for Ebola Sudan has been discharged. Now the 42 day count down to this outbreak being officially declared over is on.
Only 1 fatality is a remarkable feat.🤞
Kudos to front line responders in #Uganda

Imagine going to your doctor and being told the treatment plan for whatever ails you has to align with an executive order of the President. This is where we are headed.
The banner now adorning the CDC website pages on various treatment guidelines is most sinister.

1. The #WHO does immense good in global public health.
2. The #WHO needs reform
3. US Support of the #WHO is essential and withdrawal of its support and membership from the organization is detrimental
4. The #WHO will survive without the US as will global health.
All of these statements are true.
