Which needle size should I use for cross stitching? Which needle size should I use for cross stitching?

Good luck with your project. I tend to use the ones that come with the kits and it’s normally evenweave or aida fabric. But this is a handy guide to needle size. www.stitcher.co.uk/which-needle...

First couple of face scan attempts didn’t work. Third time lucky. Tbh I’m glad they’re trying to be more creative with age verification beyond the usual feeble ‘tick to confirm you over 18’ or ‘put in a [false] date of birth’

And wasn’t on my feet for 9 hours. They finally got home at 1.30am, exhausted. Nephew notched up 15k on his step counter. Husband had cramp during the night

Cheesed off. In last August’s madness I got Heaton Park Oasis tickets for the family tonight. Because of my surgery complications I couldn’t go. So I’m home alone listening to Snoring Dog whilst they’re all there listening to Don’t Look Back in Anger. At least nephew benefited from my ticket #Oasis

A walk round Dewsbury cemetery this morning for some work photos. Headstones encapsulate the history of the town, & some in Dewsbury are v grand. But it was sad to see the state of disrepair Kirklees have let the Grade II Listed Twin Chapels fall into.

Just read The List of Suspicious Things, set in Yorkshire at the time of The Ripper. It’s brilliant. The era & locality resonate with me. Amazingly a Batley mill tragedy I blogged about features & my website is in the acknowledgements. Thank you

Thanks Marian. Still off work post-op, but finding this a real stress reliever.

Thanks - I find focussing on stitching a kind of a stress relief as it blocks everything else out. And a sense of achievement at the end.

Brain is out of ideas. And doing no genealogy for either work or pleasure as a result. But I am reading. Finished the new Richard Coles book, Death on Location (brilliant, could have read it forever). Now on Patricia Gibney’s Final Betrayal (terrifyingly good).

I’ve been told to rest after post-op complications including pneumonia, but I hate doing nothing. As a change from cross stitching, this morning I made a Yorkshire Blankets DIY door wreath. Feel tired after, but a sense of achievement too. Nap time this aft though.

Friday cross stitch update for 27 June 2025. A massive change since my 13 June posting. Due to (ongoing) post-op complications, work has been impossible & I’ve been limited to sewing & reading.

Thanks. After sepsis after op in 2023 I really panicked when I saw the redness this time. Initially they were going to admit me on Friday night. I’m seeing the fact I’m still home as a positive. But I’m still worrying as don’t feel great and it’s still there (though no spread).

Developed a huge red rash on Friday evening which meant 2 hospital visits this weekend. Possible infection or an allergic reaction (possibly later). Now on antibiotics & antihistamines & feeling grim. Back at hospital tomorrow. This post-op recovery is not going as planned!

I’ve decided I’m having a nap after lunch.

Thought I’d try some one-place study this morning, writing the July Batley St Mary’s bulletin history pieces. It’s taken far longer than usual & I feel washed out at the end of it. Guess it means I’m not ready for work yet & op recovery is going to be more in line with the 2 weeks I was told.

Not my one-place-study, but there’s a Sheela na Gig local to me, which I only discovered in last year’s Heritage Open Day.

Thanks Janet. Beginning to realise that already. Thought I’d have a couple of days to do my one-place study stuff & then get back to client research, as in the scheme of my earlier treatment/ops this Phase 2 one was a breeze. Already know this morning the OPS is a non-starter today
