Teens aren’t a walk in the park, but I can console myself with the fact that they’re children/don’t know better. I could never manage adults; I hate working with most of them as it is, especially if what they do (or don’t do) affects my ability to do my job.

If I stay up late enough on a Friday night, it almost feels like a three-day weekend.

But then I regret it when Saturday goes by in a sleepy haze.

Student, yesterday: You assign too many problems!
Me: What would a reasonable amount be?
Student: 10.
Me: Good news, then: this unit was an average of 9 a day.

Student, today: I don’t know how to do anything on the test! You didn’t give us enough practice!
Me: You’ve had 3 weeks to master 3 skills…

I also hate the societal guilt that comes with taking a day off. I spent an hour trying to decide if I’m sick “enough” to justify it. Why isn’t just not feeling well all I need? It’s better for everyone if I stay home and keep my germs to myself.

I hate leaving early when sick because I hate asking for help.

But, at the same time, it’s sort of a compliment in that it takes three people to do only half of my tasks for the day (two teachers to cover two sections and Roberto to pick up Aurora).

And it also explains why I am always exhausted.

Problem solved one way or another, right?

We’ve talked about getting one because every school year for three years straight someone has hit me (thankfully, little to no damage), but haven’t yet (and no one has hit me yet this year🤞).

They’re regulars on my wishlists for similar reasons! I have Hedwig from a previous holiday that I haven’t started and a bouquet from a previous holiday that I started and finally found a small vase for at Dollar Tree while looking for stocking stuffers! This Christmas, I got the Piranha plant.

I love that we still get fun stuff as adults.

I’m not sure it’s the type of thing I’d like to win, though. heh.

It’d make a great Lifetime movie, I’m sure! heh.

Cousin admitted it in his statement to police. We know this because the stupid police officer left his notebook behind and we found it when we went to get Grandma’s medication.

And that was the end of family dinners, as you can imagine.

They lived next door to each other. Boyfriend and cousin were always arguing over the fence. One day, cousin and uncle broke in the back door. Uncle assaulted SiL and cousin stabbed boyfriend, but no one saw it and Grandma was a hoarder, so they didn’t try to collect evidence.

Do I get to join the “family members involved with meth and went to prison” club with you and Laura?

A better story, though, is when my husband’s cousin murdered my SiL’s boyfriend in Grandma’s kitchen and got away with it because the police did not give one single fuck.

Why does this make me want to share my sordid family history?!

Same, but I’m so jaded that I barely even care anymore. 🤣

Same. I also hate the flowery emails; I don’t care if you hope I had a great weekend or whatever nicety, I just want you to get to the point in the shortest amount of time possible.

There’s nothing that makes me regret all my life choices quite as much as returning to the classroom after a holiday break.

I hate that feeling, but it helps me to remember that there’s a literal biological reason we feel better after we cry, so do what you’ve got to do to make it through. 🫂❤️

I hate when entire seasons aren’t released at the same time, so we’ve just started our rewatch so we will finish around the time the last episode is released on NYE.

And with how far you’re traveling that totally makes sense. I just have a teacher’s bladder, so I can usually wait because I don’t want to ask either. I, unfortunately, spend entire flights feeling like my arm is in the way if I’m in an aisle seat, too. Good luck with no one taking the middle seat!

Personally, I’m a window seat girl (I’m generally not flying as far as you), but if I’m alone, I choose empty rows first (wishful thinking) and then my preferred seat where there’s no one in the center with the hope that no one takes the middle seat between two strangers.

If my husband asks why I’ve been spending so much time in the bathroom lately, it’s because the cat will only sit on my lap if I’m on the toilet. 🤣

I definitely hate how work interferes with hobbies (I’m currently stand next to a copier machine as it spits out my copies for the week). I hope you have time to read after work, at least!

I was nervous when I was pregnant and had gestational diabetes because of people like this. Not only is it for people, especially young, to see themselves represented, but it is also an educational tool this person clearly needs.

But I saw an ad for the Barbie the other day and thought of you! ❤️

I think it’s important for us to have good times (and not feel bad about it) during this shit or they truly win.

I’d also argue it’s not negativity so much as being appropriately aware. ❤️
