Most public employees I know are back to office at least 3x/week (despite their pushback). Wouldn’t this be the same for cihr employees?

I think it’s because we are a very small minority. I’ve been saying this to everyone I know who serves and you’re the first to also have declined. Most people look at me like I’m losing my mind…

I second going back to in person meetings. Problem is, they will continue online as long as they find reviewers willing to do meetings online... If most declined saying the reason is b/c it is not in person and they cannot concentrate for that long online CIHR would have to seriously consider it.

One supposed advantage would be in EDI but honestly I haven't seen the panel make up change much...

And I'd bet we have a higher reviewer request acceptance rate than virtual competitions. There are some definite benefits to VR but IP is more rigorous, accountable and interactive.

Exactly! I thought I was being picky but served in person for a different agency recently and the difference was staggering! I told cihr I wasn’t going to review anymore unless it was in person. They stopped asking…

It’s terrible. Low transparency. Really difficult to get sense of how much you need to change as the spread is quite big (very close to the top, don’t change much. Way down, maybe more changes will help…)

We need to go back in person!!!! No one can concentrate for that long anymore.
