Like the neocons, Trump’s neo-neocons repeatedly invoke the West’s complacency and unwillingness to defend its own values, a frailty that can be rectified only through the ritual use of military force against weaker targets. The conservative writer Jonah Goldberg once articulated what he called the “Ledeen Doctrine,” after the neoconservative Michael Ledeen, which was: “Every ten years or so, the United States needs to pick up some small crappy little country and throw it against the wall, just to show the world we mean business.” Despite Trump’s rejection of George W. Bush, MAGA bears many similarities to the right-wing politics of that era—a fetishization of violence and torture, the treatment of opposition as treasonous, a disdain for due process, and an anti-Muslim bigotry at odds with fundamental American principles.

Pundits loved telling you about Trump's "anti-interventionism" because it seemed contrarian and interesting, but he always represented neoconservatism's worst impulses shorn of any moral pretense or concern www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

The UK government is looking to make legal for AI companies that which any ordinary citizen could be taken to court for. It is on the cusp of approving theft *only* in this case, a truly unequivocal “rules for thee, not for me” scenario.

That AI needs such special treatment indicts it utterly.

This is not radical. You do not become a billionaire through hard work, but through exploiting your workers, so this would simply be a start to giving back what we’re owed.

"No stupid rules of engagement" is how you shoot down three of your own F-15s in one day. Just a shocking display of martial ineptitude.

The number of fixed-wing aircraft lost in friendly fire incidents today equals the number lost during the entire 20-year span of conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan since 9/11.

After Detention, Families Stranded in Border Town Face Harrowing Journey Home Parents and children from a detention center in Texas found themselves dropped at a border town shelter with few means to leave.

After detaining children and parents for weeks, or months, inside Dilley detention center, ICE is dumping them at a shelter in Laredo, TX. They are often thousands of miles away from where they were arrested, with no money to get back home. THREAD (1/)

"Populist ideology, but without class politics" is how fascism started, and how it was explicitly pitched.

It always ends up with attacks on minorities, protection of bourgeois interests, and oppression of the proletariat.

Trump is already bored with all this “what comes next” egghead strategy talk and looking for a way to move on.

the plan, such as it is, appears to be “bomb a country of 90 million people that is already facing a water crisis into a failed state, walk away and declare victory”

this is a monstrous nightmare regardless of whether or not it “works”

Screenshot of news article printed in Yahoo from Jewish Insider: “Platner faced blowback this week for boosting a social media comment about a looming war with Iran by Stew Peters, a neo-Nazi influencer who has frequently espoused antisemitic tropes and engaged in Holocaust denial. Platner's team said the post was made in error and "immediately" removed it after learning it elevated a "despicable account."

In late January, however, Platner sat for a lengthy online interview with Nate Cornacchia, a retired Green Beret who has also promoted antisemitic conspiracy theories. Near the end of their hour-long conversation, Platner, a fellow military veteran, called himself "a longtime fan" of Cornacchia's YouTube channel, "Valhalla VFT," and said it was "an absolute pleasure being" on the show.”

Graham Platner, the guy who had to cover his Nazi tattoo to save his senate campaign in Maine, went on the YouTube channel “Valhalla VFT” in January where he said he’s a “longtime fan of the show.” Check out these vile racist thumbnails from the channel & reporting on the antisemitic host.

Federal judges who've ruled against Trump administration denounce threats against themselves, their families Federal judges say criticism from President Trump can put their safety at risk. The White House says the president "understands the dangers of political violence."

"The president has frequently railed against judges when they rule against him. What often happens next is a barrage of violent threats from his followers against those judges. We spoke with 26 federal judges– 9 Democratic appointees, 17 Republican, both sitting and retired."

I was in Highschool in Tennessee when Columbine happened and saw this first hand. All the alt "weird" kids got hassled constantly by the teachers and staff. The absolutely meekest kids that never bothered anyone but wore black all the time got searched on a regular basis.

Did a big thread about this on Twitter a few years back, about how the Columbine shooters were steeped in nazi rhetoric, including eugenicist beliefs about killing disabled people, and just how much their neo-nazism wasn't just downplayed but omitted. Text from:

really one of the strangest media cycles in history, where mainstream media actively hid the fact that the columbine killers were popular upper class preppy kids with full on neo-nazi ideologies and instead pretended they were victims of bullying

These are the same people who for decades sent their own children to sketchy indoctrination camps anytime they showed any kind of deviation from their parent's values

They'd do it to their own kids, you better believe they will do it to you

This week it was uncovered that the Trump regime is trying to "cure" trans prisoners of being transgender, while doing everything they can - from labeling our mere existence as explicit to stripping us of our legal documents - to ensure we *all* end up imprisoned in their ever-growing camps.

For years we said they’re going for a genocide of trans people and for years we were told to “stop being so dramatic.”

Now we’re at the point of human experimentation with the explicit goal of eradicating us.

Can we call the genocide a fucking genocide now?
