Awesome games of Marathon tonight. Feels good to have a really good PvP crew. And thankfully tonight, we destroyed only equal or better equipped players, including a long fight against a crew with way better gear, multiple crazy revives, and a final sniper battle with 3 minutes left to run to exfil.

I tried to be the nice guy and gave a Rook a self revive after downing them and let them extract with us, but then another team wiped us at the last minute at a point where they wouldn't have enough time to loot us. But at least I think the Rook made it out. 🤷

Ugh yeah. They're thinking that eventually the best players will kill off everyone else in the lobby, since only Rooks spawn in late. But that's not novel anymore. Like in D2, it filters out people from wanting to experience end game stuff, and some of the coolest and hard to make stuff in the game.

Damn if the Resident Evil team hasn't mastered making vaguely humanoid monsters with unique and grotesque locomotion.

I don't mind PvP, but I am specifically looking for certain balance/economy changes as indications that they can listen, before I buy. The server slam has become a nightmare on just day 2 of shotguns, snipers, and instant death. Everything I hated about D2 PvP and it's harder to find a fun fight.

Hoping for a Pivot into a singleplayer or coop campaign game, reuse as much art and code, and make something that's to the level of other experiences Sony and Bungie was known for before they ran head first into the GAAS wall.

Ah yeah. They want to get the hardcore market hooked into live service? I also think it's just a studio culture thing. Because extraction (like D1 PVP) is a niche within a niche, I don't think catering to hardcore is going to net them the numbers they want/need.

No argument there. Bungie is obsessed with PvP and live service. Destiny isn't that good PvP, so when I see them bringing back all the same instant kill sweaty single shot balance, it's not great. They've put Destiny balanced weapons into an extraction shooter, and that is also a bad thing.

Yeah, been doing Dire Marsh which has more player spawns. They've tuned a lot of the game to be hostile, as you mention. TTK already fast, bad audio cues, etc.

It's exactly why I want more PvE experiences in this style, and I'm very sure a number of these games will have to pivot in some way.

Some say Anna is still there, avoiding the light like a RE9 monster, using the crawlspaces, observing the actors, and making line edits to scripts when no one is in sight.

I loved that mode so much I'm literally learning how to make a third person shooter in godot to bring that feeling back, but in my Exoshift setting.

Gotta get to high rank so I can join a crew in my area.
