The weird irony of the Iran War is that now there will be no drones for Russia. That is what we call in the U.S. “putting lipstick on a pig”.

Israel and the U.S. “got tired” of dealing with Iran. 47 years of imperfect containment to be sure vs. a war of choice that will reign destruction across the whole Middle East.

First time I’ve ever seen the U.S. gov’t tell it citizens, “You are on your own”.

Much of these counter strikes are really for domestic consumption within Iran. The successor leaders need to show strength or internal opposition will gain ground and feed a revolt.

I think Iran is trying to impact the Arab gulf countries to get them to soften their support for U.S. and Israel. That’s the only strategy that would make any sense.

That’s a good point, but I think replenishing/maintaining interceptor inventory is way harder and more expensive.

Look, many Iranians will still be chanting “Death to America and Israel” when this episode ends.😥

I’ve maintained for years that Americans’ inability to assess and weigh risks—at the geopolitical and personal contexts—is the cause of many of our social and foreign policy failures.

It has kept well. Still very watchable.

Better yet, round up the aluminum foil hat crowd!

If Trump and Bibi hadn’t chosen to attack Iran, what would have happened in a week? Two weeks? A month? I’m know fan of Iran’s leadership, but who are we to be decapitating gov’ts? The ends do not justify the means.
