Mesoamerican sculpture in the Museum of Fine Arts Boston:

Seated couple

Mexico (Nayarit), Ixtlán del Río style,
100 BC-AD 250
Earthenware with slip paint

The drinking cup poised at the woman's mouth and the man's acocote drinking gourd (for sucking liquids) suggest a funerary feast or one honoring ancestors. The couple wears finely decorated clothing and elaborate jewelry, the remains of which are found in Nayarit shaft tombs.

...and for those who don't know both, they are very very very different albums.

...and yes, I would buy both legitimately in time. In more than one format.

The album covers of the debut albums of the The Roche Sisters and U2. Both on creamy white backgrounds featuring black and white photos; The Roches in t-shirts and jeans, U2 as four portraits, stretched wide.

I don't know how many people know *both* these albums well, but nothing better sums up my values as a barely-adult music fan/struggling artist in the early '80s than the fact that I had pirated both on either side of a C-90 cassette and nearly always listened to both albums back to back.

It’s true, Alas, that Raina will be unable to join me this weekend in Boston, but I hope to share with MICE attendees why I’m so excited about visual communication these days—and of course, talk a bit about my collab with Raina on our very special book, The Cartoonists Club!

Just for fun, click on the "Mike Johnson" trending topic in a desktop browser and scroll slowly down to see him make that same head dip over and over and over again like an old school "Drinking Bird" toy.

Schmitt’s argument is unintentionally revealing.

The “color revolutions” were non-violent, pro-democracy political movements aimed at ending autocratic regimes in former Soviet bloc nations.

If the Democrats are leading a “color revolution,” then Trump is an autocrat & Schmitt is pro-autocrat.

How to make beautiful comics:

Step 1: Have something to say.
Step 2: See Step 1.

Good luck with publishing your work for a broader audience!

And if you go the crowdfunding route (Patreon, Kickstarter, etc) I hope you'll let us know here in the U.S. so we can support the effort (even if it means posting to Bluesky in the middle of the night, German time 😅).

A screenshot from Instagram, of talented German illustrator Sina Simbürger describing her challenges. The text reads:

"You probably know this book project I'm working on called "The God of Everything" A very beloved story featuring a white wolf leaving his herd of sheep to find himself and meaning in life.

I'd love to publish the book but this is where you come into play... with the A*P*P changing constantly... I'm now reliant on stupid interactions with my art. I hate that. Feels disgusting. But I can only convince publishers or fund it myself if the project keeps sparking joy (for people with money the joy is big numbers online ) but hey :) if this story sparks joy for you please share it with a friend. « that's all...

I'll be uploading the other sketchbook pages and drawings within the next days/ weeks These are the first 5 pages... I think I currently have 40ish ayy go me ~ enjoy

(Also last day to enter my DTIYS art challenge)"

OH! Hmm...
Look at that!

It seems I'm not the only one who is frustrated. The artist herself just posted this recently.
🤔
