Red Wings did well to bring themselves back into the game late in the 2nd, but cede a goal early in the 3rd that puts them behind by 2 again.
Eyes on the Habs and Sabres who both have big leads in their respective games. #LGRW
I understand the sentiment of "if Tyler Myers doesn't want to waive to come here then Detroit shouldn't trade for him" (& I agree to a degree), but also worth noting that he has a young family & a child with cerebral palsy.
I don't fault him for wanting something closer to home.
Tkachuk and Edvinsson have a history and they were jawing at each other in the box for a while, Brady is livid.
Only way they don't fight after is if Travis Green tells Tkachuk that the extra 10 minute misconduct was plenty and to let it go. #LGRW
Edvinsson interference on Tkachuk leaves Brady hurt - Cozens and Edvinsson fight after.
Review showed Tkachuk's own stick hits him in the face: no major.
Tkachuk then loses his cool, goes to Detroit's side of the box to chirp, earns himself a 10 minute misconduct. #LGRW
John Gibson starts the game with a couple massive saves for Detroit. #LGRW

Shoutout to the IOC for the two videos that best defined the 2026 Winter Olympics - a masterclass in showcasing every incredible moment the Milano-Cortina Games had to offer.

USA wins gold off Jack Hughes' overtime winner.
Hellebuyck was outstanding, kept them in it all game as Canada was pouring it on.
Canada's execution failed them, too many squandered opportunities even outside of the ones that were saved.
Thrilled for Dylan Larkin. π₯ #LGRW
What an unbelievable hockey game, my god. A damn shame that overtime is 3 on 3, this deserves 5 on 5.

22.02.2026 15:17 β π 9 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Canada's defense squandering prime offensive opportunities has been a theme. Massive credit to Hellebuyck & the American defensemen who have been lights out. Still, too many plays are dying on Parayko's stick, not to mention Toews failing to convert.

After a perfect first 38 minutes from Hellebuyck, Canada finally gets one past him - on an unscreened shot from Makar, funny enough.
Great game so far.
USA with an unreal penalty kill on a 93 second 5 on 3. Canada had some grade As but also squandered multiple possessions. Huge opportunity that was completely snuffed out by Hellebuyck & Co.

Love to see Dylan Larkin, for the second year in a row, get his flowers on the international stage. Pivotal player for the US yet again.
Hopefully he can carry this momentum into a strong final 1/3rd of the season with Detroit, too. #LGRW
Canada's offense would have to show up beyond a few guys (including blue line support), the defense would need their best game of the tournament, and Binnington would need to be at his 4 Nations Finals level.
Crosby & Morrissey's health will dictate a lot, to that end.
Bias aside, I stand by what I said going into this tournament: USA are the favorites going into the gold medal game.
Canada may have more firepower on paper, but the Americans are positioned to capitalize on their weaknesses and have been a more impressive team unit so far, IMO.
Finland's challenge for offside on the entry well prior to the goal was the right call to make, even if the goal was ultimately confirmed. Was extremely close, well worth the risk with 37 seconds left.
20.02.2026 18:10 β π 13 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If Canada is going to make unforced errors leading to goals against, they may as well have brought Evan Bouchard and added some actual offense from the blue line in the process.
