I do feel a little sorry for the management of the Woking Pizza Express. I suspect this whole narrative has brought them a lot of attention they could very happily have done without.

On AI and moral expertise. The only kind of moral expert worth bothering with is someone who excels at the business of being a human being living a human life. And only a human being can be good at being a human being.

Hum. I don’t know if they could be more deplorable than they already were. And I fear they remain alarmingly electable.

I do remember an erstwhile Sheffield colleague from southern parts saying, “These people in the North are SO funny! You know what - they THANK BUS DRiVERS! SO funny! You’re from the North, Jimmy - do YOU thank bus drivers? Haha!”

I think they are pretty clear-sighted about how fucked up what they are doing is. But they are also clear-sighted about how much money it will make them in the meantime and that is way more important to them.

Freedom of speech is not the same as freedom from consequences. That is absolutely true. Something else that is true is that if that is your favourite saying about freedom of speech, it's a very safe bet that freedom of speech is not a thing you really give a toss about.

Only be sure always to call it please, RESEARCH!

Or they are, or were, young people themselves going to university oreven just considering it. Or they are employers taking a view of university qualifications. Or just citizens of a political culture where universities play a massive role. Yes, we can be sure millions of people have such attitudes.
