Single-turbine scale quantification of wake turbulence - Aura Centre for Doctoral Training The Aura CDT II PhD Scholarship research project supervised by Professor Chris Keylock at Loughborough University is open to new applicants.

We have funding for a PhD on wind turbine wake characterization:

Communities for the Lagrangian dynamics of the turbulent velocity gradient tensor: A network participation approach In this paper, we present a network-based framework for analyzing the Lagrangian dynamics of the velocity gradient tensor (VGT). Each node represents โ€ฆ

In the second paper from this @leverhulme.ac.uk funded project, we explore communities in the turbulence network. The most effective nodal grouping does not map well into conventional classifications; tensor non-normality is crucial for effective classification

Complex network approach to turbulent velocity gradient dynamics: High- and low-probability Lagrangian paths Complex network analysis has been used previously in turbulence fluid mechanics to characterize dynamics in a discrete manner. In this work, rather than defining nodes based on physical coordinates, w...

Here we define a state-space vector for the turbulent velocity gradient tensor based on signs and relative magnitudes of the second and third invariants. We then study the properties of HIT on this network: dx.doi.org/10.1103/Phys...
