Going by the "power on hours", I'd say it's just old stock. We already had SSDs in 2018 and I doubt many people were actively looking to put "spinning rust" into their laptops, solid state is such a no brainer for mobile devices.
Immergreen is the only clanker I approve of ;)
Install Linux on an old notebook or in a VM, play around, get used to the basics. There's a learning curve, but it's not as steep as it used to be. Not gonna lie tho, sometimes tinkering is required, but at least the OS isn't actively fighting your setup decisions.
Who can take your trash out? Stomp it down for you? Shake the plastic bag and do the twisty thingy, too? The garbage man. Oh, the garbage man can! (I strangely enough enjoy #NMS Remnant Expedition's space janitor chores, the gravity gun is fun.)

Bloody hell, Hermen Hulst dropped the ball so hard here. There are very few teams as good as Bluepoint at doing proper remakes. I really hope the whole team reforms as a new independent studio. WTF, Sony.
Every American needs to watch this:
Still listen to their early albums on the reg XD
"Good drivers have dead flies on the side windows." 「上手なレーサーのサイドウィンドウには死んだ虫が張り付いている。」(Walter Röhrl, World Rally Champion 1980 & 1982)
This is an older video that came up in my memories but damn it is still so very relevant right now due to all the #smalldickenergy out there amirite.

Three years of learning 漢字, close to 800, kanji progress 41% of WaniKani, vocabulary 43%. My reading skills are pretty good, listening compression: ゆっくり話してください
I bought way too many games in 2025: 217 in total, 41 on GOG, 176 Steam or Steam keys. Can't pass up a good deal, I sent 530 EUR, saved 3330 EUR, avg 86% off. That's 44 EUR per month, pretty reasonable hobby. Still, I should really buy less and play more.
2025 was a good year for running, managed to get 620 km in. This was probably my most consistent year to date. 1250 km including the cycling season and random hiking.
Happy New Year!
Streets of Rage 4 is awesome. My favorite character so far is Cherry Hunter. Whoever designed her must be a fan of Gazelle's Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon. Those dash punches into groups of baddies never get old, so satisfying!
another robot highlight for 2025: man wearing humanoid mocap suit kicks himself in the balls
joining the "cybertruck owners only" group on fb is one of the best decisions i've ever made. every so often when i'm scrolling through fb getting pissed off, i get to see a little treat like this
Sony Trinitrons were amazing. The EU models were 50/60Hz, multi-norm PAL/NTSC and accepted RGB via SCART! I had a modded NA/US SNES with RGB break-out to SCART and it was so freakin' sharp on the Trinitron. Luckily it was pretty easy to get RGB out of the PS1, PS2, NGC, etc too.
Wishing every JP artist a very "join bsky so I can see your art again"

Early X-Mess present, I got 'rona for the second time. Luckily mild symptoms, I almost mistaken it for just a cold. Getting a booster, four weeks ago, prolly soften the blow.
RIP, Gainax (T~T )
Ad blockers aren't good enough anymore. We need to send Ad Terminators back in time. Their prime directive: to stop this dipshit AI nonsense from happening.

The Valve hardware seems great. Glad I didn't bought a Meta Quest yet. Looks like the Frame will do all that without the Zuckerbitch baggage. The party piece will be the openness, Valve doesn't fights its customers and their use cases, so emulation, 3D movies, anything goes ... a major value add.
I found an old document scanner in the basement, Canon something something from 2003, before throwing it away I hooked it up and ... holy beep, it's still working and was supported by Linux out of the box. Well, guess I have a scanner now :D
Laika: Aged Through Blood ... really got the darkest of uplifting vibes, that soundtrack tho :')
