Brilliant morning at Gorey #parkrun. Bumper numbers of participants (209) for our 400th parkrun, coupled with St Patrick’s Day weekend, cake and sunny weather. Another year’s best for me 29:14 and 16th in the age grade ranking. Volunteering next week.

No Dave, only done parkruns in Devon, Bristol and where I now live in Ireland. I was in London twice last year but not at the weekends. My niece’s husband does Bushy Park so if I can plan things may get to do that one with him sometime

Sunday training run. Have worked up to 6X 400 metre sprints over the past few weeks. I take a minute walking rest between each sprint. Today had a longer jogging rest between my 5th and 6th effort. Have a 600 metre warm up and cooldown. Hope to break 29 minutes at next week’s Gorey #parkrun

Great effort Dave. I was born in Islington, Almeida Street. Not lived there though for 70 years! I used to have a studio flat near Primrose Hill and ran on a cinder track at Regents Park as well at Primrose Hill and Hampstead Heath and various towpaths back in the 80’s and early 90’s

169 participants at Gorey #parkrun yesterday on a cool morning perfect for the event. I was one of the finish funnel crew doing timekeeping. We had a new tokens volunteer (Lady in Red hat) who did a great job keeping in sync with the two timekeepers.

Mojtaba Khamenei, son of the late leader, leads as the clear frontrunner at 70.8% probability on Polymarket’s “Next Supreme Leader of Iran” market (trading volume: $8.4 million). This significantly outpaces others, signaling strong trader consensus. To be announced soon

I hope Donald Trump has the humanity to warn Iran and all the neighbouring Gulf States and his “allies” if he is going to nuke Iran. It will cause panic throughout the region and kill untold numbers of people.

A beautiful cool sunny morning for Gorey #parkrun today. A much larger number of participants (179) than usual completed the course. I came in at 85th in a year’s best time of 29:29 running at a completely even pace. Maybe the extra swimming instead of running is paying off? Volunteering next week.

I am replacing one or two of my weekly runs with 800 to 1000 m swims swam as 50m and 100m front crawl sprints. This replicates 200 and 400 m running efforts in time term and anaerobic effort, Hopefully translates into less leg injuries and better #parkrun times?

The token tracking team have located the whereabouts of numbers 155 and 156 which should be safely back in the fold next week. Three more to go.

After #parkrun yesterday Wexford Barn Owl Project (WBOP) installed a barn owl box in a local farm. The box was made by Kilmuckridge #MensShed and funded by Kilmuckridge #TidyTowns with a donation to WBOP.

Dare I say it felt springlike this morning with a cloudless sky, little breeze and 10 degrees C for my first training run for several months since injury. I did a warm up, four 400m intervals with 60 secs rest, an 800 m jog after three intervals and a cooldown on way home. 😊 Enjoyable.

Was one of the timekeepers at Gorey #parkrun yesterday. We had 165 participants on a mild dry morning. Five finish tokens went missing. We hope they make it back to the scanning desk next week!

Chickened out of my run today due to the vile weather: heavy rain, very windy and cold. Did an hour Pilates class instead. Yesterday same weather did a 1000m swim instead. Hopefully dry tomorrow for a run. Friday another swim and Saturday timekeeping at Gorey #parkrun

Irish government subsidises the Tidy Towns organisation throughout Ireland to pick up litter and fly tipped waste rather than putting in a mandatory publically funded waste and recycling collection service which would cover domestic waste.

there is no legal obligation in Ireland for households to pay a private waste collection company or use a kerbside bin service. As these are expensive people choose to fly tip their waste in the countryside. There are also no free council operated household waste recycling centres.

I really don’t understand Garmin sometimes! I did a year’s best parkrun with negative splits which it deemed unproductive. My performance condition varied between + and - 1 for the whole run. I ignore it and just get on with my training!

Dedicated volunteers managed to save Yesterday’s Gorey #parkrun from the icy conditions by breaking up and removing all the solid ice puddles from the course for the 144 participants. My 4th parkrun of the year saw a year’s best of 30:29 run with negative splits. Came 15th on age graded results

5 years ago I planted a native hedge about 50m long in the front of my garden. It was growing well when on the 1st Aug the next door farmer’s contractor flailed it down mistaking my property for the farmer he was working for. In Wexford farmers illegally cut their hedges from 1st Aug for road safety
