Damn... tough one! WipEout was a first in so many ways: gaming becomes legit for clubbers, licensed music becomes big in games, cool graphics by music industry artists. Maybe it should be WipEout? 😉

Originally registered on 21st January 1972 as ROBERT SMITH & SONS (ENGINEERS BIRKENHEAD) LIMITED, Psygnosis Limited legally came into being on the 3rd July. So, as it's the 40th Anniversary this July, I feel I should celebrate in some way? I've got my thinking cap on...

If it's inspired by the PSOne, maybe QTOne - the next letters in the alphabet, and for casual reference, shorten to cutie? 😄

It still blows my mind that games I composed music for featured on postage stamps in the UK. I found them again whilst remodelling my music studio... 🤪

The mad thing about the tune I'm playing here is that I change the lead sound I'm playing several times, by clicking on channel selectors in Propellerhead Reason using the trackpad on the laptop. Lots of chances for it to go horribly wrong. 😆

No disrespect… I just don’t get the logic really. 😉
Sure, the streaming services take quite the slice, but that’s how the World spins, not just in music but in every other sphere of life.

Live performance isn’t everyone’s bag, and to make any money doing that, you have to run yourself and your equipment into the ground touring for the rest of your days. Take a break, and there’s no income.

Physical sales are all well and good, but after you consider postage, damaged goods and tiny margins after everyone takes a slice… not to mention the fact that hardly anyone buys CDs or vinyl anymore, in real terms these aren’t great to keep musicians paying rent.

As a musician who depends on streaming revenue… I don’t get why people are so down on it? It’s the 2024 equivalent of radio airplay and is the lifeblood of many artists who would never have gotten any royalties back before it became a thing.
