I’m just this person, you know? Leftist, Christian (the good kind), we must always fight for those at the least power. Not my main account, but I don’t want to tie that one to my public identity.

I’ve participated in both Democratic and Republican caucuses, and the Democratic ones are chaotic, but a lot more fun.

Nothing reminds you more of how blue the city is than walking past a gym full of hundreds of Democrats, on your way to a classroom to caucus with 20 other Republicans.

A list of all the authors

There are a very large number of authors, and OCR is really mangling the names, because they all have a superscript numeral after them

First Snookie’s visit of the summer, and I’ve never seen it this busy

Sadly, our local library does not seem to carry Nature magazine, so I cannot see my article.

Wow, Des Moines produced!

I could not love Kat more.

Today’s the day!

It doesn’t air until fairly late some places, so no spoilers!

Yeah, I’m hoping that this is going to be the case.

It looks like I can order it directly from nature, but I need to order by volume and issue. I plan on swinging by the library next Friday to check the periodicals, and make note of the volume and issue (and do my best not to shout “I’m in this!“)

I’m kind of going crazy: does anyone know anywhere where you can buy a physical print copy of Nature in Des Moines?

I’ve co-authored a paper that will be published in the May 22 issue, and it would be really neat to have a physical copy.

If any of you are the sort who are into trivia, my wife is going to be on Jeopardy! on next Tuesday.

Pretty freaking surreal. Let it be known that @kenjennings.bsky.social is as nice off camera as he is on. Takes audience questions, has good banter.

I miss his Tuesday Trivia.

This is a long shot, but does anyone know any place in Des Moines that sells periodicals?

I’m specifically looking for recent issues of Nature

It is SO perfect that “Uncle” Baby Billy Freeman drives a Cybertruck.

I can’t decide whether I think musk would be mad about that, or if he would just assume it’s a positive portrayal.

There was once a time when Iowa’s protection of the marginalized was a thing to be proud of.

Same sex marriages were codified and affirmed here (Varnum v. Brien) before most of the country even permitted it.

This is a dark day, and Reynolds will be not be remembered kindly in the history books.

I am maddened at the lack of outcry around Israel’s ongoing genocide and the support our country is lending them.

I expect cruelty from anyone who voted Trump (hurting vulnerable people is basically a hobby for them), but I’m hurt by the apathy on the left.

I’ve never been, but I certainly wouldn’t say never. Work basically just takes me to Palo Alto, possibly Chicago at some point.

I have to admit, I’m intrigued. I am generally a fan of butter in all its forms. Also, I just started watching Detroiters, and it’s kind of selling the city.

My wife and I put one of those together a few years ago. Heckuva relationship tester.

The ladder doesn’t sit flush on my son’s, because of one of those little stupid rotating things holding the ladder didn’t sit right.

I always feel a pang of guilt seeing it, but he probably doesn’t even notice.

I’ve never had better eggs than I have had at Ramen places.

I have actually debated seeing if I could order just those eggs by themselves.

Des Moines used to have a pretty decent Ramen place on Ingersoll, but I guess the owners had some pretty sketchy business practices and it closed.

Such a tragic story. Dude just wanted to be a vanilla opera singer and basically got press-ganged into the voodoo schtick.
