TIL the terms Frutiger Aero and skeuomorphism. It means the 2000s are old enough to have their own retro aesthetic and it too invokes nostalgia. It means I'm officially old.
Side note, is there a retrowave subgenre of music for this? I'm interested to hear this Gen Z vaporwave.
