Had an absolute brain fart this morning while making breakfast. Someone, I managed not to notice the open milk container and promptly broke the seal on the new one. Now we have two lots of open milk in the fridge. Nadgers

Yep, that sucks. Because how are you supposed to make sure it does match the criteria next time you try? Improving practice requires good feedback, not silence.

Especially as said crappy AI doesn't recognise the computer I've logged in on for the last 5 years and now flags it as a security threat whenever I sign in, despite me telling it everything's fine. With less than no respect, please take your crappy AI and yeet it into the sun. Thank you kindly. /end

Dear Google, Thank you for stopping me from signing into my work email account to tell me that you've fully integrated your crappy AI into it, whether I want it or not (I DON'T). /1

The episode on the London plane tree was really interesting. Annoyingly, I missed seeing it when I was in London in January because I didn’t realise it was just along from St Paul’s. I was concentrating on research for another Rivers RPG book nearby. Next time! /end

I have a soft spot for railway poplars because of a scenario I wrote for Rivers of London: the Roleplaying Game, so I’m looking forward to the Fabulous Folklore podcast on poplars by Dr @icysedgwick.bsky.social later this month. /1

Accounts completely up to date, so that’s today’s job all done and dusted. Now for a rewarding cuppa and a bit of a read

I gave up knowingly watching Pixar movies over a decade ago because I was sick of being hit over the head with the constant male mid-life crisis plots. But heaven forbid they should mention the gays!

It's accounts day, so, yes, I'm on here procrastinating. I have printed out my bank statements so I can anotate them and the lappy is updating its software, so I suppose I'm not totally avoiding the task in hand...

Tonight’s movie watch was Point Break, which neither of us had ever seen before. So much testosterone. And now I understand more of the gags in Hot Fuzz

There was so much cuttlefish "bone" on the little bit of beach just before you head up the final stretch of path to Dunstanburgh. I've never seen as much just lying about. The budgies I had as a kid would have loved it

Fabulous breakfast at Warkworth, then a lovely amble up to Dunstanburgh Castle from Craster. The weather is beautiful up there today: high blue sky, sunny, and a good walking temperature once the frost burned off. We have the best coast and the best castles

I was so pleased it was actually a sphere rather than the usual circular girdle!

A sequence of shots from the TV series MASH. Three surgeons are operating in a mobile army surgical theater, and are masked in cotton masks, wearing cotton caps to cover hair, and aprons. Bright lights are visible in their backgrounds. The first, panel shows Frank Burns (an absolute jerk character but Larry Linville, his actor, was not) saying, β€œEverybody knows war is Hell”. The second panel shows BJ Hunnicutt (Mike Farrell) saying (sarcastically) β€œ remember, you heard it here last.” The third and fourth panels show Hawkeye Pierce (Alan Alda) saying, β€œWar isn’t Hell. War is war and Hell is hell and of the two, war is a lot worse.β€œ
5th panel shows Father Mulcahey, the chaplain (William Christopher) saying, β€œHow do you figure that, Hawkeye?” 6th is back to Hawkeye, saying β€œ Easy, Father. Tell me, who goes to Hell?” 7th is Fr Mulcahey saying β€œ Sinners, I believe.”

The last three panels are all Hawkeye, saying, β€œ Exactly. There are no innocent bystanders in Hell. But war is chock full of them. Little kids, cripples, old ladies. In fact, except for a few of the brass, almost everybody involved is an innocent bystander.”

Agree that I hate this is still relevant.

Fantastic evening at the Discovery Museum for Wonder Women, their International Women’s Day celebration. Cool talks, tours, & workshops, finished off with an amazing performance by the Bangshees in front of Turbinia. My ears are still ringing!

MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine Find out about the MMR vaccine for measles, mumps and rubella, including who should have it, when it's given and possible side effects.

Measles is a highly infectious disease. It can make children seriously unwell, especially young infants and those with weakened immune systems.

The best way to protect your family is by ensuring you and your children are up to date with your MMRV jabs.

I’m going to read the various Moments separately once I’ve read everything else. I suppose we should really work out where the Moments in each of the RPG books fall as well

Because I’m rereading the Rivers of London books chronologically rather than in release order, I’m now onto The Furthest Station, which I bought originally as a hardback in the Newcastle Waterstones in February 2018. I saw it first in Cogito in Hexham - no idea why I didn’t buy it there, though

Chronology - Ben Aaronovitch

I’ve also been feeling in with various short stories from Tales From the Folly, as set down in the chronology on Ben’s webpage. Just about to reread one of my favourites: β€œKing of the Rats.” /end
