Israel has just arrested Greta Thunberg and many others.
Statement from the Global Sumud Flotilla:
โPeople of conscience have been abducted. The flotilla broke no laws. What is illegal is Israelโs genocide, Israelโs illegal blockade of Gaza, and Israelโs use of starvation as a weapon.โ

BREAKING: Israel has begun intercepting the Global Sumud Flotilla, which is carrying 500 people from around the world seeking to bring aid to Palestinians starved by Israel's siege.
The crew includes 24 Americans, EU Members of Parliament, Nelson Mandelaโs grandson, and Greta Thunberg.
Watch live so they're less incentivised to murder these peace activists. Even just putting the stream on in the background is helpful.

26.09.2025 13:04 โ ๐ 209 ๐ 10 ๐ฌ 11 ๐ 1Tom Harris K @MrTCHarris Follow I've always found it odd that people who oppose government ID cards are usually more than happy to own a loyalty card that allows private companies to keep track of tons of personal information about you.
Again, you *have to* have a Tesco card or your shopping costs even more than the already crazy prices! Do you see how all the arguments against objections amount to tiny gilded class saying โwe already treat you like cattle, so itโs stupid for you object to us fucking you in new and exciting waysโ.
26.09.2025 12:25 โ ๐ 143 ๐ 28 ๐ฌ 11 ๐ 3Ok. Theyโve pissed me off.
Iโm back to tell you 3 things about ID cards:
1. Migrants ALREADY HAVE biometric ID cards & govts have been trying to digitise them for years w repeated fuckups & failures causing complete chaos - they donโt work, you do not want that system for you.
This whole thing is maddening. The border is not confined to the physical frontiers of this country. It's violence bleeds throughout the entirety of our society. How much are we to be expected to sacrifice in the name of stopping people from migrating and building lives here?
26.09.2025 11:12 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0One thing I've not seen discussed much in relation to Labour's digital ID plans is digital exclusion. Thousands of people cannot or don't want to use the internet. People in poverty are far more likely to be digitally excluded.
Are these people to be excluded from the workforce then?

25.09.2025 21:36 โ ๐ 302 ๐ 18 ๐ฌ 8 ๐ 1Unless the government introduces PR, there will be a far right government in power in 2029. And like the compliant liberals they always were, the Labour party are building the administrative tools to help those fascists round you and your friends up for deportation. Frightening.
25.09.2025 21:26 โ ๐ 248 ๐ 85 ๐ฌ 5 ๐ 1hello I am a deeply unpopular prime minister. In a last gasp attempt to save my own skin my big idea is to launch the least popular policy of an also deeply unpopular predecessor. I am forensic.
25.09.2025 18:17 โ ๐ 238 ๐ 69 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 1These are all great points. Iโd also add that we should oppose this out of solidarity with people who are here โillegallyโ and shouldnโt have to live lives that are even more criminalised, precarious and hunted.
25.09.2025 16:54 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0the fact that so many people frame autism as โa problem that needs to be solvedโ is a constant reminder that being โnot normalโ isnโt acceptable to a large amount of the world. itโs the same reason thereโs a trans panic right now too. they think people are defective
23.09.2025 20:10 โ ๐ 6189 ๐ 1557 ๐ฌ 82 ๐ 33And also that to be autistic is to be a tragedy, a burden on society, a problem that must be solved. This is deeply dangerous stuff.
23.09.2025 10:45 โ ๐ 92 ๐ 25 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Some on the left are more ready to contemplate throwing minorities under the bus than to contemplate the ejection of certain toxic officials and inept leaders from senior positions. But real strategic wisdom (and ruthlessness, if you like that sort of thing) lies in the latter, not the former.
19.09.2025 09:13 โ ๐ 92 ๐ 15 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 2Right. My students working two part time jobs and/or having an hour and a half commute to uni because they have to live at home due to the cost of student accommodation lack drive and vigour. Sure thing, Peter. The UK Govt still haven't a clue about the realities of universities today.
19.09.2025 08:54 โ ๐ 703 ๐ 212 ๐ฌ 52 ๐ 56That's a Labour government minister berating university students and staff by saying that 'too often people go to university to "explore research and knowledge"'.
I'm very glad of our students who study history to explore research and knowledge.
The destruction of the Gaza city mosque is a devastating loss to humanity as a whole. A part of our global medieval heritage destroyed in furtherance to a genocide. I despair.
17.09.2025 11:16 โ ๐ 1649 ๐ 598 ๐ฌ 14 ๐ 5V much a thought in progress, but it does feel like weโve ceded a lot of the framing of โfree speechโ to the right, and itโs worth pointing out that instead of producing anything artistically or even culturally interesting, itโs given us an abundance of online slop that apparently must be protected
16.09.2025 09:52 โ ๐ 108 ๐ 15 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 1If the UK government doesnโt respond strongly to this, then the consequences will be grave.
