Since the deal was signed, some of the LGBTQ community in Rhode Island have pushed back against the deal. Students on campus rallied against any further deals with the federal government.
Last year Brown University signed an agreement which traded the rights of trans students to restore federal funding. For Ashe, the deal means segregation from her cis friends on campus.
Not shockingly, Brown's capitulation targets multiple communities, also embracing a segregationist ban on "DEI" and targeting anti-genocide protest alongside its attacks on trans rights.
As ever, our struggles against oppression are intertwined.

Brown, despite its queer history, was one of the first universities to bend the knee to the Trump regime, cracking down on healthcare and banning trans people from sports and key facilities.
But students and anti-fascist groups are fighting back. More in our latest, from @tomatoslayers.bsky.social
I've got updates and a recap of my Riley Gaines reporting in this week's Reveal episode! Also featuring a dive into the science of trans athletes by @holarascon.bsky.social and a powerful profile of one of the last trans women to swim in the NCAA, by Imogen Sayers www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

everyone should go listen to this comprehensive episode on trans athletes and take note! everyone involved did a great job of digging into how trans women ended up banned from athletics -- and a profile by me of the last openly trans woman to swim as a woman in the NCAA
At a dr’s office & a super nice nurse just told me “I’m going to warn you. We try to keep time but there are often delays & we fail, we fail terribly. I always tell ppl it’s in the nature of the work we do. We just can’t keep to that schedule” & friends this is going DIRECTLY into my editorial spiel

SCOOP: Sources tell me Donald Trump's name was added to the exterior of the US Institute of Peace building ahead of Thursday's peace agreement signing between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), which will be held inside the building. Confirming if it's been officially renamed.

Conservative Christian groups are turning to the courts to bring conversion therapy back to the brink of legitimacy. How will it impact our legal system?
Check out Tom Sayers' (@tomatoslayers.bsky.social) "We Need to Talk About Conversion Therapy."

bringing this statement over from Alice’s Twitter. it appears the below was Alice’s last post before passing. I am heartbroken
Queerness is magic. Don't let people who hate magic try and force it into darkness.
We need to talk about conversion therapy.

Please read my story, and go forth to talk to at least one person about what you find. For a barbaric and unsafe abusive practice that thrives in secret and behind closed doors, that's the only hope we have to put an end to it.
The far-right are weaponizing your freedom of speech to give themselves legal permission to try and cure people of queerness. But that's not possible, nor does it need to be.

Hey y'all, do you know how often over the years I've pitched pieces about trans realities in the South and gotten nowhere?
Instead TNN paid for and supported my latest, on what we're up against in NC and all the history behind it.
If you want to see more unapologetic trans journalism, donate here.
Hey, I would love to chat with you for a story for @transnews.network

American Heritage Girls even self-published an e-book called “A Raising Godly Girls Guide to Gender and Identity,” aimed at supporting parents whose children are experiencing gender dysphoria.
The book promotes anti-LGBTQ resources including conversion therapy.
Fernando Salinas-Quiroz says “LGBTQ-exclusive policies don’t just harm the kids they shut out—they send a loud, damaging message to the kids inside, too...
These policies are not accidents—they are deliberate projects to maintain a binary, heteronormative, Christian nationalist order.”
