Finished my first game project like:

One of the characters was talking about how they could feed all of japan with the money that was used in the war effort. we witness starving orphaned children in the streets as well, he 100% did not support the war in any way

I cant really speak for Horikoshi since there doesnt seem to be any existing interviews to understand what he actually thought, but its really reductive to say that Miyazaki was doing apologetics for imperial japan especially when in the movie he criticizes japans use of their war budget
