I’ve reached the pinnacle of what 20-something me always imagined: Spending my money on Broadway shows after being laid off from my journalism job

Me: Do you know what tomorrow is?
My husband: What?
Me: Still fucking January
Him: *deep sigh* Yeah

I realize several people don’t like “the media.” But please do know that they are humans, just like you, doing their best to keep others informed — often at the sake of their own well-being.

I was laid off a week ago.

The pace of news that has happened since then has been nonstop.

Even as I try to rest, I can’t turn off my journalist instincts. I want to dig in, to know more, to help. It’s what I do — what my profession does.
