Aha!
A vision came to me after gathering signatures for the regional measure in the hot sun all day!
Lol
Just spotted @caltrain.com in Oakland!
Not sure what that's about but feels like a special transit history moment!
(I'm pretty sure Link21 didn't get built while I wasn't paying attention)
Bus lane on the Bay Bridge is still a good idea actionnetwork.org/petitions/go...
One of the most impactful & quickest to implement things local elected officials can do to protect their community from high gas prices:
(re)implement Slow Streets and other quick build bike/mobility lanes to make it safer for folks to newly try biking.
At the gym, I overheard a trainer and client discussing how they were both using their bikes for shorter trips instead of driving, because of the price of gas. These little changes make a difference!
Love it!!
A key part to winning the transportation changes you want in your community is shifting the culture.
One way you can do that is through putting on events that help people temporarily experience the benefits you're advocating for.
For example: throw a block party

Help keep transit throughout the Bay alive, come gather signatures. We need 200,000 by June to get a funding measure on the ballot in time to stop the cuts. Details here

This. Exactly.
2- and 3-wheeled vehicles have delivered more emissions reductions than #EVs, globally.
And you get fewer children & youth killed by cars. And better cities. Win-win-win.

Everything the US moves around needs diesel fuel to power the trucks, trains, & boats: food, goods, crops, commodities, everything. Oil products powers ~90% of US transport. It's why we should electrify transport as a national security imperative: to reduce the risk of price shocks to the economy.
Keeping the Bay Area's transit going and growing is essential -- but at a time where gas prices are skyrocketing, transit service is on the verge of getting cut. Help save & improve transit throughout the region!

Next work week we are gonna see record transit ridership, but because out transit agencies have been chronically underfunded the systems will struggle to keep up.
Drivers, hope you keep this in mind in November when you get to vote on increased transit funding.
Hosting a training this week about how to have an easier time gathering signatures to keep the Bay's vital transit system going and growing! Join the fun!

With people taking a million transit trips happening in the Bay each day, it goes without saying that BART, VTA, Caltrain, AC Transit & others rock. Let's keep them going!
Working out regularly and getting back into organizing have been good for my spirit. Annoying but true, lol.
Please add your comments to the survey, especially about the dangers of painted bike lanes
Painted bike lanes on 2nd are dangerous door-zone lanes used more for double parking, and are not appropriate for a transit hub. OakDOT should follow the bike plan and install protected bike lanes on 3rd
Call & write to your reps to tell them to stop funding the war machine
And if you are a California and want to tell our senators to fund transit, write them a letter here actionnetwork.org/letters/tell...
My university received a few years ago the promise of the largest single gift to a public university in U.S. history. It was equivalent to 12 hours of bombing Iran.

Noted BART rider, Muni enthusiast, and Olympic gold medalist Alysa Liu will be celebrated next Thursday, March 12th at Oakland City Hall. It's only appropriate to celebrate someone who understands the joy that public transit brings by gathering signatures to save public transit! Come join!
This country can afford anything it wants. Single payer healthcare. Affordable housing. Modern transit systems. High speed rail. Everything is a choice.
