The Irish government will do absolutely anything, including inviting in more absentee landlords, in order to avoid having to do something about the housing crisis. It’s not foreign investment, it’s international financial feudalism.

The Irish government will prevaricate about this until after the big shindig in the White House, debasing our country and degrading international law so they can "fumble in a greasy till" in Washington. Sickening stuff.
I know, not a soggy sandwich or bourbon cream in sight. The conference dinner was a six course gastronomic delight. And the conference papers were an archives, memory, history and intellectual delight. All in all, 10/10

In 2025, the Academy Library was gifted a 19th-century bone with an inscription in Irish. Thady Connellan (Tadhg Ó Coinnialláin, c.1780–1854), a bibliographer and schoolmaster from Sligo, made this and various inscriptions on other bones.
