This is grim. I did some research for @musdevnorth.bsky.social a couple of years ago - it found that lots of threats to collections were increasing, inc. theft but esp. climate & maintenance related. I suspect if we did it again now the position may have deteriorated on theft, too. 🥺 #Museums

Logged on today for an interesting @musdevnorth.bsky.social Elevenses session on AI and Museum Learning led by @shannenjjohnson.bsky.social @gem.org.uk. I've never knowingly used AI & been quite weary about how to use it but felt inspired so used Co-Pilot this afternoon for a work task.

We have definitely broadened the scope
of our family offer and feel more comfortable in our delivery going forward. Families and their needs are a higher priority in our collective thinking and planning. We have also improved how we highlight our offer for families through our verbal welcome, interpretation boards and website.

New case study now live ✨

Learn how the reorganisation of a foyer space & the introduction of a 'Creative Corner' helped Grundy Art Gallery to develop their provision for family audiences, part of the Family Friendly Museum Programme w @musdevnorth.bsky.social kidsinmuseums.org.uk/resources/gr...

Over history many people have moved in, out, and through North Craven in search of work or safety.

For #RefugeeWeek our display tells some of these stories - from the displaced residents of the village flooded to make Stocks Reservoir, to the German POWs who stayed long after World War II ended.

A person wearing a Los Angeles Lakers jacket stands in front of a wall displaying "Meet the Curators" with photos and descriptions of various individuals. They hold a booklet and appear to be in an exhibition or gallery setting. A person in a blue hoodie and glasses stands smiling in an art gallery. They are next to a framed painting of a vibrant green forest on a teal wall. The gallery has various artworks and a display case on a wooden floor. A person in a green sweater stands in an art gallery. They're next to a blue wall displaying various framed paintings and art pieces. The floor has a wooden parquet pattern, and a sign above reads, "dark nights ahead come rain or shine. A person wearing a black and red jacket observes a painting in a gallery. The blue wall displays a poem titled "Winter." The painting in a gold frame depicts three birds in a snowy landscape.

Today is #WorldAutismAwarenessDay

We are so proud of the Action for Autism Barnsley group who have helped co-curate our current exhibition at The Cooper Gallery: Four Seasons In One Day.

The group chose artwork and objects that reflect the seasons & times of the day.
