"The fact that the occupants were 'only speaking Spanish' during the stop seemed to 'confirm' there was smuggling or 'harboring people that are not supposed to be here in the United States', JB said."

Portland councilors make renewed pitch to spend $56 million of unbudgeted housing funds Portland councilors make renewed pitch to spend $56 million in unbudgeted housing funds

A new proposal led by four Portland city councilors to spend unbudgeted housing dollars includes spending on several novel proposals, like a “rent buydown” plan to help erase debt accrued by affordable housing providers & a social housing strategy to purchase property for publicly-owned housing.

We make fun of Elon for saying that as a child he was too smart for chess but I do not think that is a unique belief for this type of guy

I love the "could this be a solution" post because it's a perfect example of Founder brain. You have to be a special kind of stupid to imagine that you are the first person to come up with the idea of driving around the Strait of Hormuz. It's being so dumb that you think everyone else is even dumber

I made sure to shout out Supporters Groups here too, because most new fans don’t know about SGs! They’re unique to the NWSL/footy culture.

I hope this is one of the most consequential pieces I will have ever written.

OK so now we're watching the second half of Perfect Neighbor. This white Florida woman who flat out murdered a Black woman from across the street tells the detectives, "I was taught the n-word is when someone's wild or dirty." Just, holy shit, this movie. #Oscars2026 #Documentaries

I mean if her wife hadn't released that shitty ass letter with KP, and the bargaining team had stood strong together, things might have cleared up by now. BUT ANYWAY.

When covering people in power, it’s always important to ask why they’re leaking that information to you & what you uncritically printing it does for their side of the deal. I think a lot of mainstream coverage misses the reality of the power dynamic between owners & workers.

I think a lot of the coverage is very one-sided; obviously some of that is due to the fact that the PA isn’t really doing much in terms of comms. But when quoting a league source in terms of an offer, I think contextualizing the offer from a worker perspective in important. 1/

Want to know why so much coverage of CBA negotiations is shitty? Because most labor reporters largely ignore the entire field of sports. Most of the books on the history of labor organizing don't include sports unions at all. So you end up with sports reporters covering labor. They're diff skillsets

I bet JRR Tolkien would love all the companies named after things in Middle Earth where the big selling points are "We blow up school children" and "We want to subjugate people who studied the humanities."
