My First Mister (2001) is a heartfelt dramedy about a goth teen (Leelee Sobieski) who forms an unexpected bond with a lonely older man (Albert Brooks). Funny, touching, and full of emotional surprises.

Switching Channels (1988) is a fast-talking, newsroom-set rom-com with Kathleen Turner, Burt Reynolds, and Christopher Reeve in a love triangle. It’s no His Girl Friday, but the cast is fun, the energy is high, and Turner steals the show!

White Line Fever (1975) is a badass ’70s trucker revenge flick. Jan-Michael Vincent fights corrupt bosses with his rig, Blue Mule, and a whole lot of attitude. Gritty, cool, and perfect for a late-night watch!

Crossing Delancey is a sweet, funny, and charming rom-com about tradition, love, and unexpected connections. Amy Irving is caught between NYC’s literary scene and a humble pickle salesman (Peter Riegert, effortlessly lovable). Warm, witty, and underrated!

I guess they realized it’s clearly a violation of the first amendment, since it came from the mayors office. Happy my Theater is playing it this weekend and a local university is playing it again soon.

The Apartment (‘60) is a perfect mix of comedy, romance, and heartbreak. Jack Lemmon is lovable, Shirley MacLaine is irresistible, and Billy Wilder’s script is pure gold. Funny, bittersweet, and way ahead of its time!

Network (‘76) is a razor-sharp, still-relevant satire on media, greed, and madness. Peter Finch rants, Faye Dunaway schemes, and TV news sells its soul. Dark, brilliant, and way too prophetic.

Walking and Talking (1996) is a witty, heartfelt indie about friendship, love, and awkward relationships. Catherine Keener and Anne Heche have great chemistry, Liev Schreiber is hilariously awkward, and Todd Field plays the unsure fiancé. Pure ’90s indie charm! #filmsky

Avanti! (1972) is a charming, slow-burn Wilder comedy with Jack Lemmon at his best—but the fat jokes? Yikes. She isn’t even fat! Still, the romance, scenery, and zippy dialogue make up for it. Just… less body shaming, please. #filmsky
