The team is back from the Czech Republic after #EdAFoBio project sampling! 🎉
With all the samples and new experiences, we surveyed a large stretch of forest in the south of the country 🐞🌳🧬

Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting Albert Vilà Cabrera, Ramón y Cajal researcher at UVIC and National Geographic Explorer🌍We are collaborating with Albert within the framework of a National Geographic project @hgl7.bsky.social, categorizing the influences of forest legacy on soil biodiversity🌳

On those days, they learned different soil sampling techniques in the field, as well as explored soil species diversity in laboratory practices using microscopes and molecular tools 🌳🔬🧬

🌱Last week, our team from @soilevoecolab.bsky.social — Paula Arribas, @niravega.bsky.social, Carmen Balibrea and María Borrallo — visited @creaf.cat to attend the soil biodiversity and functionality workshops within #SoilNet network, funded by @ageinves.bsky.social

The next #EdAFoBio project sampling is about to begin — this time, the team (@vicnc13.bsky.social @lorellobiod.bsky.social) is heading to the Czech Republic! ⛏️🪲

Our team has been working in Jaén and Albacete mountain ranges, sampling for the #EdAFoBio project (funded by @ageinves.bsky.social )! This is EdAFoBio's first sampling of the year, but much more is coming! ⛰️🏔

As part of @gioelemoro.bsky.social's stay at @ipna.csic.es, his co-director Alena Suchackova and botanist Vojtech Lanta (Biology Centre #CAS) visited Tenerife for the sampling and characterization of soil plots in burned areas of the island ⛰️🕷🌲

Nov-Dec 2024, I collaborated on the EdAFoBio project, led by Carmelo Andújar, in #Chile 🇨🇱

We sampled #soil #arthropods along two 200-km transects, one in the Mediterranean region and one Temperate region

Last week, we sampled #soil #arthropods in Tenerife, where a major wildfire occurred in 2023. We’re investigating arthropod responses in fire-adapted and fire-sensitive forests. Sampling was done with Alena Sucháčková and Vojtech Lanta from Biology Centre CAS, and Carmelo Andújar from @ipna.csic.es

Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting Bea Lago from Misión Biológica de Galicia (#MBG-CSIC) for a short stay as part of the @csic.es tech personal mobility grants 🌎 We exchanged knowledge about our research lines, and she had the chance to explore techniques for studying soil biodiversity ⛏️🪲

In late January, our PhD student Nira Vega had a short stay at INIA-CSIC, diving into soil nematodes! 🌱🪱 She explored their role in soil health and is now sharing her new knowledge with our team 📈

Gioele is pursuing his PhD on the impact of fire on arthropods under the supervision of Alena Sucháčková and Lukáš Čížek (Biology Centre, Institute of Entomology; Czech Republic) and Carmelo Andújar here at the @ipna.csic.es @soilevoecolab.bsky.social 🪲🔬

Gioele Moro, from the Laboratory of Woodland Ecology (Biology Centre #CAS), is back with us for his second research stay at @ipna.csic.es! 🌍 This time, he will be involved in metabarcoding procedures for soil biodiversity and sampling in different burned areas on the island as part of his thesis ⛏️⛰️

We sincerely appreciate the support of CONAF and the National Heritage Service for granting permits and for the valuable collaboration of park rangers in the national parks! 🌿👏🏼
