Noise Advisory - Communities surrounding Naval Air Station Patuxent River are advised that noise-generating testing events are scheduled to take place Monday, February 9 and Wednesday, February 11, 2026 from 6:30 p.m.-10 p.m.

Communities surrounding Webster Outlying Field are advised that a low altitude aircraft flight test events is scheduled to take place Feb. 4, 2026 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Residents may notice increased noise levels due to these operations.

Webster Outlying Field back gate will also close this afternoon. Webster’s main gate will remain open to traffic.

NAS Patuxent River Gate 2 will be closed today from: 0900 - 1100.
Gate 2 will open today for normal operations from 1100-1300.
Gate 2 will be open to outbound traffic only at 1300.
Gate 3 will open for outbound lane traffic beginning at 1500.

NAS Pax River will close Gates 2 and 3 as part of the Citadel Shield-Solid Curtain exercise. NAS Pax River Gate 1 remains open for all inbound outbound traffic.

NAS Pax River will reopen Gate 2 and Gate 3 reopen at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 3 for evening rush traffic.

NAS Pax River Gate 2 Closed Feb. 3

NAS Pax River is in FPCON Charlie and Gate 2 is closed until further notice in response to the Citadel Shield-Solid Curtain Exercise.

Please utilize Pax River Gate 1 for inbound/outbound traffic during this time.

Pax River Pass and ID/Visitor Control Center Closed Tuesday, Feb. 3

NAS Patuxent River's Pass and ID/Visitor Control Center next to Gate 2 will be closed Tuesday, Feb. 3 from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for a security exercise.

Pax River’s Gate 1 outbound lanes will
Be closed at 8 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2026 for gate maintenance.

Following morning rush, Pax River’s Gate 1 will close to all traffic from 9:30 a.m. to noon for further maintenance. Drivers should use Pax River’s Gate 2 during that time.

PAX TRAFFIC NOTICE
Pax River’s Gate 1 is down to one outbound lane due to a final denial barrier malfunction.
While this issue is corrected, drivers are advised to utilize Gates 2 and 3 for outbound traffic Thursday, Jan. 29.

Building managers are asked to confirm building entry, exit, and emergency egress areas are clear. Contact the Public Works Department Duty Phone at (202) 439-7459 with any requests for ice removal.

While Public Works has cleared parking lots and other areas around base, refreezing is a concern as temperatures dip overnight, and personnel are reminded to exercise caution when navigating icy surfaces around buildings.

NAS Patuxent River will continue normal operations Wednesday, January 28, 2026. This applies to NAS Patuxent River, Webster Outlying Field, and Navy Recreation Center Solomons.

SERVICES UPDATE: Pax Child and Youth Programs will delay opening until noon Tuesday, Jan. 27 due to continued road clearing at the CYP facilities.

The NAS Patuxent River Child and Youth Programs will open at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 27; The Pax Commissary and Navy Exchange will open at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27.

The NAS Patuxent River Child and Youth Programs, Commissary and Navy Exchange will be closed Monday, January 26, 2026.

The NAS Patuxent River Commissary and Navy Exchange will be closed Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026.

Due to forecasted weather conditions, NAS Pax River has updated its operational status to Restricted Access for All but Mission Essential Personnel beginning 12:01 a.m. Sunday, January 25, 2026. This applies to NAS Patuxent River, Webster Outlying Field, and NRC Solomons.
