"How Jacques Pépin Uses Melted Ice Cream To Make 5-Star French Toast"

Oh okay so if I do this shit I'm a fat American pig but when a French chef does it, it's "leveling up". Never tell me I can't use donuts as hamburger buns ever again.

In that sense, conspiracies are not dystopian, but utopian — since, unfortunately, in the real world, uncovering malevolence is often not sufficient to make malevolence disappear.

Dark money group offers influencers $1,500 for posts attacking Chicago Democratic primary candidate Progressive House candidate Kat Abughazaleh told MS NOW the secretive campaign is “filled with false and defamatory claims.”

HOLY SHIT.

A dark money group, hidden behind a bunch of shell companies, is paying influencers thousands of dollars PER POST to attack @katmabu.bsky.social on social media a month before her election.

Thank you to the people who declined the money and went forward with this. So who's behind this?

(1) The accused declared, ordered, or otherwise indicated that there shall be no survivors
or surrender accepted;
(2) The accused thereby intended to threaten an adversary or to conduct hostilities such
that there would be no survivors or surrender accepted;
(3) It was foreseeable that circumstances would be such that a practicable and reasonable
ability to accept surrender would exist;
(4) The accused was in a position of effective command or control over the subordinate
forces to which the declaration or order was directed; and
(5) The conduct took place in the context of and was associated with hostilities.

✋ Former USG war crimes lawyer here.

Apropos of SecDef's remarks this morning:

Denial of quarter—even the declaration of no quarter—is a war crime.

And recognized as such by the US Government.

I don't think the consultants advising Democrats realize that Libby Normielib is really fucking tired of this shit.

Americans are about to learn one of the things I was yelling about during the campaign: the US cannot produce enough oil to keep us from feeling the global shocks of oil prices, because oil is produced by companies who will just charge us more money if the supply goes down elsewhere.

EVERYONE should be going bonkers on the first amendment implications.

And yet it's one of those things that is quietly being relegated to a few opinion columns.

Thanks for continuing to read, cite, and share this paper. It remains controversial in some corners of the discipline, but I stand by it completely.

Many Black folks don’t use terms “liberal” and “conservative,” which makes the liberal-conservative scale a noisy tool for studying Black politics.

Opinion | The Justice Department Wants to Make It Safe for Government Lawyers to Lie

Too much to keep track of, but don't sleep on AG Bondi's new proposed rule that would let DOJ lawyers avoid key ethics checks that prohibit lying to court. Ratcheting up the assault on courts & the reality-based world at the same time. Mine in today's NYT. (Gift Link)

What’s Poppin’ Issue #079 Deferred No More: Advancing Reparations in Maryland, Lovely Lane Church, 2200 Saint Paul Street, March 11, 7 p.m. krieger.jhu.edu/chloe There’s a lot of spinelessness among our political class, but…

As our technology gets worse, wonkier, more addictive, more invasive, and downright dumber, the idea of analog and “obsolete technologies” sounds better every day. baltimorebeat.com/whats-poppin...

I really think you could get so many of the toxic dipshits out of adjacency to power by holding a meeting with all the tech execs and then springing a surprise drug test on them. no time to prepare

A few years ago, we hosted a brilliant talk on the risks of lionizing tech bro culture and making heroes of its leaders. One academic attendee admonished us for bringing feminism into a tech conference. Said he wouldn’t be bringing his students again. Political intent in software is real folks

Punishing student protestors only to get mad at them for not protesting anymore reminds me of how survivors are sued and harassed for coming forward only to then be blamed for not wanting to name and report their perpetrators anymore

I'm starting to think if I say "ICE has not left Minnesota" (which of course is true!) I should also say "ICE has not left Chicago" and "ICE has not left LA" because I think the point is that ICE wants to occupy a lot of places at this scale so that it just becomes reality, it's not just Minnesota.

Respectfully, eat shit. Those kids were expelled, arrested, and targeted relentlessly by their school administrations with the specific goal of preventing further protest. Eighteen year old kids were held down and maced by campus security, hit point blank with tear gas canisters by riot cops.

I Watched 6 Hours of DOGE Bro Testimony. Here's What They Had to Say For Themselves The hours of videos provide fascinating, or perhaps horrifying, insight into the thinking of someone inside DOGE.

I have watched 6 hours of a DOGE bro deposition. The whole thing, start to finish. It's a fascinating, and horrifying, look at the people who caused so much damage, didn't really achieve anything at all, while still being so sure they are right. Here's what they said: www.404media.co/i-watched-6-...

I've been listing back issues of "The Morgan Horse" on eBay and trying to figure out how this 75 pounds of glossy pages full of ads and photos survived for like 40+ years as a hobbyist magazine.

Then I realize: I guess horses are probably… not cheap?

A photo of a hooded grasshopper on pavement. The insect is bright green with white eyes. Its body is round and shaped like a leaf.

Behold the hooded grasshopper. It feeds primarily on leaves—and it’s perfectly camouflaged to look like one, too. This species inhabits parts of India and Sri Lanka. Females can grow up to 2 in (5.2 cm) long, while males are only about half their size.

Aside from teeth, I agree there's a strong anatomical resemblance. I wasn't able to pause the uvula scene to compare to e.g. the Pinocchio Whale and related lesser "swallower" clades. I wonder if Ahab had ever sung a little song to Moby Dick there might have been a much better outcome in that case.
