Attended the first of three webinars last night on pupil book study.

I’m really excited about this approach to evaluating the effectiveness and impact of our curriculum.

Steering clear of assumptions and tuning into the lived experience of the children in our school 💗

My son has been in theatre for three long hours. The amazing surgeon has just been to tell us that the op has gone well. Super relieved to hear my youngest is fine 💗

However if my husband keeps breathing sooooo loudly in this very quiet waiting room I can’t promise he’ll make it home.

Student maintenance loan thresholds are not talked about enough - but increasingly will be acting as a barrier to young people from lower income families looking to go to university. Happy to see the issue being raised in parliament.

Caring for your family is important so what’s with the complicated feelings when you need to be off work as a teacher?
I’m certainly not some kind of super head and the team are more than capable. Nothing in school will change if I’m not there for a few days.
The teacher / family juggle is real.

Got me thinking about what we include in our geography curriculum. Feels especially important if your pupil and staff mobility is high. Local context v. important. So are the experiences of our immigrant and migrant children.

The reasons for poor attendance can be so complex.
Merging behaviour and attendance risks the focus shifting from the pastoral support that is required to surveillance that concentrates on data.
IMO this will just lead to misleading data about behaviour in schools.

My youngest needed cheering up and that win for Everton has done just that!
Another op a week tomorrow. He’ll miss his mocks and be off school for a couple of weeks 👎
However he is looking forward to school tomorrow because his headteacher supports Aston Villa.

Giving it a try this morning. I reckon there’s enough romcoms to get through January 🙏

Really love this. Our school found itself in an in between / limbo place that was out of our control. It led to us being the boldest we have ever been.

As a newly qualified teacher in Y6 I had to sort a leavers assembly. Four boys wanted to perform Good Riddance. I brought in my drum kit and set it up at the back of class. At lunch times they’d have a little band practice. Super cute but also as if I was allowed to have a drum kit in my classroom.

Thank goodness for that! For a moment there I was concerned that I’d inadvertently upset Coen.
