We are deeply saddened by the passing of Prof Conor Gearty KC. A brilliant scholar and true pioneer in the many fields he spoke to. The Centre benefitted greatly from his friendship and support. His generosity, wit, and deep intellect will be profoundly missed.

Absolutely none of this would have been possible without the colleagues who gave me ideas and encouragement, and the fantastic students who took to the topic with such infectious enthusiasm.

Well, no one's talking about Braverman now.
I’m currently putting together a new undergraduate model on Political Violence and Popular Culture, so this issue will be a key material for the discussion on ‘Heroism’.
If anyone has further recommendations, please share!
Definitely the geekiest thing I’ve bought for work.
For those unfamiliar, Amazing Spider-man #36 was published as a direct response to the events of 9/11, and shows the Marvel heroes (and villains!) at Ground Zero supporting relief efforts.
It’s a remarkable contribution to that post-9/11 moment.
Happy (Taylor's Version) day to all who celebrate.
Nothing highlights the questionable analytical value of the term 'terrorism' like the (now daily) demands from certain British tabloids that the BBC call Hamas 'terrorists' instead of 'militants'.
Join us next week for this ISA panel on State Violence.
I'll be discussing racial militarism & state violence as features of the (post)colonial state.

Hi folks,
For my first post on here, I wanted to share my new article in Critical Studies on Terrorism, looking at the relationship between the Prevent Duty and the Fundamental British Value project, and the absence of the latter in Scotland.
