Abolish ICE
30.01.2026 22:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 020 states sue the Trump administration over cuts to homeless permanent housing funding
25.11.2025 18:40 β π 137 π 38 π¬ 6 π 1A report by the @urbaninstitute.bsky.social demonstrates how federal government support to higher-income homeowners through tax breaks exceeds $300 billion annuallyβwhich is more than triple the amount of housing assistance and subsidies provided for low-income renters. https://ow.ly/eNnU50XrUSq
Trump is cutting funding that helps end homelessness.
And now, over 170,000 people are at risk of being pushed out of homes and back onto the streets.
Weβre in a housing crisis.
The solution isnβt kicking people out of their homes β itβs building more housing.
When an insurance company is deciding whether to pay for your medical treatment, it generates a file, which should contain all records associated with your case, including documents explaining why the claim was denied.
You have a right to see this file.

For every 100 households under the poverty line, there are only 34 housing units available in their price range.
This is from the 2024 @nlihc.org annual gap report.
Infinitely growing housing values causes homelessness. It's not sustainable.
I love em dashes. :(
28.07.2025 01:17 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0BREAKING: President Trump signed an executive order directing states to criminalize and institutionalize people experiencing homelessness, addiction, and mental health disabilities.
24.07.2025 21:20 β π 6921 π 3735 π¬ 897 π 2568The question is interesting, as the question could be restated whether there is a combination of projects that could produce the same number of jobs.
It is difficult to answer, but it would be interesting to ask what could have been built on the 290 acre site if Pima County put out an RFP first.
There's also talk about putting caps on all public housing assistance which will just unhoused more people, creating an even bigger problem.
Bullshit hurting the unhoused population is happening at the federal, state, and local levels.
It's no joke. Trump's FY 26 budget proposes removing all housing funding for homelessness and instead concentrating it under shelter. HUD sent out an email last week saying its intention is to focus on treatment of addiction and temporary solutions (shelter, transitional housing).
14.07.2025 00:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It's not necessarily ICE. The timing of ICE ramping up and many of these anti-homeless laws taking effect overlaps.
All that to say, it's highly highly likely some unhoused people are missing because they have been kidnapped by ICE. Others are missing because of new local laws.
They're being displaced by police ("leave or you'll be arrested") or actually arrested. And the guy in this video is right to express concern, because these folks are vulnerable to abuse, violence, and mistreatment by law enforcement.
13.07.2025 07:34 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Since this ruling, tons of other jurisdictions began writing and passing ordinances and laws criminalizing visible, unsheltered homelessness. We're at the time now where those laws are being enforced, so it makes sense that someone would start to notice people missing from their usual spots.
13.07.2025 07:34 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Last June, the supreme court ruled in favor of the City of Grants Pass in Johnson vs Grants Pass, allowing the city to criminalize rough sleeping/unsheltered homelessness despite not having anywhere (enough shelters) for people to go.
13.07.2025 07:34 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Do people have the right to be homeless in public spaces? Itβs a tough conversation, but hereβs the truth: when we shift the argument from a right to housing to a right to homelessness, we lose public support.

Now the department is closing its investigation and retracting findings of constitutional violations.

What if instead of requiring people on Medicaid to work, we fined employers with employees on Medicaid?

Eliminating the Continuum of Care and defunding all permanent supportive housing would be almost unthinkably devastating. It would put hundreds of thousands of people who qualify for a high level of care back onto the streets. This is a π¨π¨π¨π¨π¨ emergency.
