After some thinking, and given the way it'll be played on #playdate, I should ensure visibility of gameplay

Thus, an external view would be even better, more appropriate without sacrificing too much

I get to keep the internal view for some sequences

I need to think about some trade-off design wise

Testing for a "behind the car" view and it's a bit more usable, but the immersion is not the same

Maybe I could reserve the inside view for some sequences ingame

I did some tests, and I feel like either the crank should be used sensibly & you can then allow the screen to be readable (more or less static position) or you use the screen with a lot of motions for a short burst & not bother with readability

I still do wonder if people play using the emulator

I still feel the screen being lit indirectly play some hard part in it

Anyway, I do like browse for fonts and circumventing this point

I put it along the creative constraint one must use while making game for this system

There's a gigantic disparity between graphics on the actual #playdate and the emulator, and not only in terms of fps (idc): (Really) small text is barely legible on real hardware

I know (or think?) it's surely mentioned in the design guidelines, but still

Got the road displayed, somehow correctly

Still have some quirks to iron out

Next: road generation (procedurally, obviously), the different mission types and the transition between them (amongst a lot of things)

I added a small display inside the car because I'd rather have related missions details displayed diegetically

I'll now switch to the core aspect of driving : 4 types of missions while outside the city, in glorious fake 3d

Got the snow effect updated to take into account driving direction and speed

And generate "identity" in a for loop based on seed

I won't do random, but rather procedural

Each player will get a variation of the default hash

Total chaos for NPC names, limited variation for story characters, same protagonist for everyone
