Finished No Country for Old Men. That ending wasn't nearly as climatic as I thought it was going to be, but it still managed to hit hard. I don't get the whole "Chigurh isn't real" theory, at least from the novel, but I heard the movie made changes to him. Good read overall

Just read chapter 6 of No Country for Old Men.

What a chapter.
I really didn't expect that. It's so interesting that despite Chigurh being so intelligent, it's impossible to reason with him. Or maybe his own reasoning is just incompatible with anyone else's. Either way, things are heating up.

As of right now, I give bleach an 8.2/10. I want to love it even more, but it's really hard not to burn out from some of the stretches of the series that don't focus on the main action.

I wish the cast was a little less expansive, so I could appreciate each one more, but I see why Kubo's work is part of the big 3.

Ichigo isn't the only great character. Kenpachi, Baraggan, Tosen, Uliquorra, Grimmjow, and Giselle are some of my favorites. Kubo really had a talent for making a wide cast of moving characters.

He gets scared, loses self-confidence, forgets peoples names, and he gets humiliated. Most importantly, he doesn't always get up by himself. But what makes him admirable is the fact that despite his failures, he always gets up eventually and continues on.

Now for the positives: I love Ichigo as a protaganist. Especially, I love how he isn't depicted in the typical shonen "pinnacle of goodness" archetype. Not to say that the archetype is bad, but the way Ichigo is so "real" while also being heroic is awesome.

This one is less of a criticism and more of a prefrence, but I wished the power system was a little more structured/explicent. For instnace, I wish I saw the important hado variations before they were used mid fight.

I say filler in quotations because they aren't filler, but they can feel like that due to their sheer quantity. I like them. I just wish there were fewer of them.

As a jjk fan, I definely see the appeal. The fights are thematically relevant and usually have something interesting to say, but it's really jarring, to say the least, when I see uliquorra and ichigo prime themselves for a battle, only to watch 15 episodes of "filler" fights.

Starting with the negatives: There are far too many side character fights for my liking. What's weird is that I generally like all the characters, but the sheer quantity of fights that don't contribute to the main plot is astounding.

Thoughts on Bleach so far:

I've been watching the anime of Bleach for the past few months, and I am currently in the Arancarr arc. I have a lot of thoughts right now, both good and bad, so I'm going to outline them in this thread.

I honestly have graphic novels (manga) to thank for getting me back into reading while being so busy. I definetly am grateful for the foundation I got from reading mostly traditional novels, but I hate it when people say that there isn't anything of substance to be had from reading comics.

Just started No County For Old Men. I appreciate the stylized natural dialogue, but the amount of times I have to reread a whole section is insane.

As a college football player, so far, the series isn't exactly super realistic in most ways. (No shot a non-athelete teen is running a 4.2 with no training.) But it expertly and realistically captures the most important element of football: the emotion.

Finished Tomorrow's Joe. What an ending. Can't say I didn't predict it, but man. Aside from the occasional questionableness that is in seemingly every 70s era series, the story is really damn good. The art and paneling was also really good and very clearly Tezuka inspired. Overall 8.5/10

The great thing about bluesky is that bait accounts don't get pushed by the algorithm and can be easily blocked.
